gift guide // the manly man - perfect gifts for any man in your life, from boyfriend to father to brother

While I don’t exactly have a man in my life this year, that doesn’t mean my eyes aren’t always open for great gifts for my guy friends, my dad, uncles, etc. Plus, I always find it fun to check out man stuff, especially when the pieces have that rugged, burly, lumberjack vibe. Not gonna lie, I’m a fan of a dapper dude, so these gifts are perfect for the guy who’s stylish… or could use a bit of style assistance. Here are my top picks for the men in your life:

  1. buffalo plaid trapper hat from Target ($11.89)
  2. whiskey wedge glass from Uncommon Goods ($14.95)

I always find it rather tough to figure out gifts for the men in my life. This year, I am going straight to the source: Huckberry. While shopping their site, I was totally inspired by the mens grooming section and had an a-ha moment: what if I treat my dad to some grooming goodies? Here are some of my top picks in a variety of price ranges (from left to right, top to bottom):

PS – for San Francisco readers, be sure to check out Huckberry Holiday Home — the first shoppable home for guys. The house will be open to the public from Monday, December 9th thru Monday, December 16th, and they’ve filled it with everything from a 1965 Porsche 356c to Room & Board furniture to favorite brands like Woolrich, Poler, and Taylor Stitch.

I’m a bit of a daddy’s girl. When something goes wrong, he’s who I call first. He helped me navigate buying my first car on my own, he’s always proud of my latest designs, and he sends me Starbucks giftcards. He just gets me. When I was trying to figure out where to live, he was totally in support of me getting a vintage VW bus and living out of that. He shares my love of mountains and my dreams of having a great, big, slobbering labrador retriever one day. He’s my daddy. That’s why this Father’s Day (ahem, June 16), I want to get him something special, something that reminds him of all the adventures we have together.

Hey, guys. Meet Huckberry, the bi-weekly magazine where you can get awesome apparel and gear, stories, and adventure. Basically, it’s like a flash sale site meets a very much cooler version of Nat Geo… but in that Kinfolk sort of way. Catch my drift?

Not only do you get amazing product available for only 7 days, but you also get the stories behind the product. Like, literally they take their products hiking, camping, fishing, and more. And, because of this, they only sell stuff that they are 100% behind. Wouldn’t you, if you were out in the wilderness? That’s what I thought…

Craving some West Coast adventure? Check out this field trip they took to Steep Ravine to test out some outerwear, a tent, and more. These are some seriously cool dudes.

I love a dapper man… You know, the Don Draper type. Slightly scruffy, expertly tailored, and perfectly retro. I’m thinking bold stripes, masculine accessories, and whiskey-scented treats. And can’t you just imagine sharing some booze-tinged cocoa with your boo from that thermos??

  1. Handmade leather key holder from Kaufmann Mercantile
  2. Striped thermos from Jack Spade
  3. Baseball bat bottle openers from Uncommon Goods – made with actual game-day bats!
  4. Flyte bowtie handmade by my dear friend Skinny Vinny
  5. Muehle shaving kit from Kaufmann Mercantile
  6. Prospector Co. beard oil from Urban Outfitters
  7. Striped leather card case from Leif
  8. Portland General Store whiskey shave soap from Terrain — this smells heavenly and not just because I’m a lush!

Kaufmann Mercantile is one of my favorite places to shop for a gift, especially for him. My friend Eva reminded me the other day that they had a whole new assortment of goodies and I immediately fell in love with these lumber crayons. I’m not entirely sure how I would use them in my daily life, but I really, really want them! Slightly over-sized and able to write on metal, concrete, lumber, stone, or wood, these crayons make me dream of leaving love letters scattered through a forest for him to find. And the best part? They have a holder. Check out that lovely leather strap!
