Every Friday night, Sean and I go to the same local bar. It’s 2 blocks from my house, we don’t have to get dressed up, and their burgers are really, really good. I was having a rough day and I asked our bartender, Phyllis, with whom I’ve grown quiiite close, for something strong. She whipped up this Dirty Shirley and I knew immediately that I had to share it with you guys. If you’re having a crappy day and want an easy-to-make cocktail that’s delicious and strong… this is it.

A good margarita is one of life’s greatest little luxuries. While a classic margarita is always delicious, I like to be a bit more adventurous. When Patrón reached out to tell me about their #MargaritaOfTheYear contest, I knew this was the time to change things up and try something different! They helped me craft a cocktail featuring my favorite of their tequilas and some unexpected ingredients (plus, a dash of spice).

March means 2 things: St Patrick’s Day and spring! A classic gin & tonic is the perfect springtime cocktail for its light, herbal flavor. As is the case with most classics, I like to put a special twist on my G & T, so I teamed up with Truvia to share a delicate cucumber infused simple syrup that’s perfect for spring — with wayyy fewer calories!

With January come and gone, I still find myself focused on my health and fitness goals. I’ve got my trainer and my workout regime on lock, but I am still working on my healthy eating goals — so imagine my excitement when Burt’s Bees reached out to share the news of their new Protein Shakes! I decided to combine my favorite fruit (mango) with the vanilla powder for a delicious, filling smoothie that keeps me energized and feelin’ strong after a good workout.

We always keep Valentine’s Day pretty low-key around here. I think both of us have this sentiment that it’s a made up holiday, but it’s still nice to set aside time just for the two of us. This year we’re going to hole up in a cute cabin in the Cascades and snuggle around the fireplace. I’m planning to cook an amazing dinner for the two of us, so I decided to test out a Valentine’s Day spin on one of my favorite cocktails, the French 75. Blackberries are one of my favorite fruits, so I decided to add a fruit twist to this classic cocktail… and they add a gorgeous vibrant hue!
Are you a meals person or a snacker? I’m definitely the latter, always grazing on small bites throughout the day. Now that I’ve got a new studio complete with a fridge, I’ve been keeping it stocks with snacks so I don’t crash. Protein and fresh veggies really do the trick and lately I’m loving these veggie sushi rolls that we whipped up. The eggs provide tons of protein, while the veggies and nuts provide the perfect crunchy bite that I always seem to crave (I’m more into savory flavors than sweet). Be sure to make a batch of our healthy sushi rolls for your next workday snack!
Confession: I don’t know what this cocktail recipe tastes like with the whiskey. The truth is that I’m attempting to go the entire month of January without drinking (aka Drynuary), so I could only taste test this one as a mocktail! Oops… but let’s be real here, whiskey just makes everything better. I knew I wanted to share a healthy cocktail with you guys this month, so we combined the delicious citrus flavor of pomelo with the effervescence and deliciously sour taste of kombucha. Even if you’re taking the month off from booze, this recipe is heavenly.
