a day at the beach

Nothing says ‘Happy Fourth of July’ like a day trip to the beach! This weekend my friend Jess and I hit the road and spent the day at Avalon beach in New Jersey. Totally picturesque and quaint, Avalon is strengthened by the belief that you can go to the shore in New Jersey without feeling like Snooki. As an out-of-towner, that seems like a of revelation to me. If you’re in the Philadelphia area, I urge you to check out this coastline gem!

I got a bit sun-drunk towards the end of the day, but my Turkish T towel came to the rescue! I draped it over my head and shoulders, thus creating the perfect iPhone viewing tent. Sunglasses from Free People.

This Market Tote from Apolis is one of those things that I find myself using constantly. Made of natural jute, it has a waterproof lining, making it my top choice for the perfect beach bag. Add the cooler I’ve had since college and my favorite Birkenstocks, and I am ready for the waves.
