home decor trend // the night sky

While I was in Maryland last week, I was reminded of the magic of the night sky. Living in a city definitely has its perks, but I miss being able to glance up and find the constellations. It was just such a pleasant surprise to be under a blanket of white dots. Also, did anyone else make up their own constellations as a kid?

Now that I’m back in Philly, I’ve noticed that the night sky is popping up all over as a home decor trend. Often grounded in rich navy blue, celestial artwork is gracing the surface of textiles, ceramics, and even coasters. Here are some of my top picks for bringing the night sky into your own home.

Bring this home decor trend into your kitchen or even your office with this Imaginary Constellations mug by Cutiepie Co on Society 6. Or star-gaze during your evening shower with this constellation map shower curtain from Urban Outfitters.

Etsy artists are getting in on the action of this trend, too. Protect your coffee table and have a conversation starter at your next party with these hand-made Zodiac coasters by Natura Obscura Art. Or store your trinkets in this sweet little ceramic bowl by The Clever Little Fox. Vintage scientific charts have always been a favorite of mine, so I’m especially lusting after this one from Gritty City Goods (at the top).

Lastly, bring the night sky into your textiles with these sky map napkins from Anthropologie and this star sign pillow from Free People.
