last minute Valentine’s Day gift DIY

Hey, all you last minute valentines… I have the perfect DIY for you! Not all gifts have to come from the store. In fact, I happen to believe that home-made gifts are the best way to show someone you love them. With Valentine’s Day fast approaching, express your silly love with this super easy, kid-friendly project… or just show the world your inner cat lady.

Materials:

  • 11×17 print outs or enlarged photocopies of faces. I asked my local copy shop to print them on heavier cardstock paper so that the faces aren’t too floppy.
  • washi tape
  • wooden popsicle sticks

Tools:

  • glue gun and glue sticks
  • scissors

Using scissors, cut out the shape of the face.

Now, my favorite part, picking out washi tape! Once you’ve selected your washi tape, stick it onto the popsicle sticks and wrap around to the back. Get creative with the placement — you could do stripes, colorblocking, even use scissors to cut the tape into thinner lines, polka dots, or hearts!

Apply a thin line of hot glue on the popsicle stick, then place the cut out face. Be sure to align the popsicle stick with the face. I overlapped the face by about 2 inches so that the face wouldn’t be too floppy.
