I hate to be one of those single girls who wages a war against Valentine’s Day, but… it’s not exactly my favorite, if you know what I mean. This year I have so much on my plate that it feels like my brain doesn’t even have the capacity to think about it. Instead, while everyone is worrying about dinner plans and dates, I’m going to take some time to indulge in some full-on treat yourself behaviors. Think: lounging in cute pjs and my favorite vintage flannel, getting lost in a good book, and soaking in my tub.
This is my single girls guide to Valentine’s Day.
Step one: Hydration domination. One of my favorite ways to center myself is to sit back in my favorite chair, wrapped in a quilt and sipping something spiked (there may be bourbon in that mug). A lot of times I’ll journal or read in this spot. It helps to set the scene with flickering candles, crystals, and plants — things that help me feel grounded and connected.
Step two: dress the part. When it comes to lounging, nothing quite beats a romper. Easy, casual, and oh-so-comfortable, who doesn’t love romping around? I’m a lover of layers, so I like to add an old flannel shirt or a vintage silk robe. It’s sort of fun to lounge around and pretend like I’m in a ’90s Victoria Secret catalog.
Step three: The best part. As a bit of a product junkie, I like to think of myself as an expert in bath soaks, bubbles, and salts. To make things extra special for yourself, I suggest splurging on a bath soak with natural petals. The result is a super luxurious, relaxing experience. When you turn into a prune, wrap yourself in a soft towel — a current favorite is this neutral Pendleton number.
Ok, more tip: just because you don’t have hot date, doesn’t mean you should skip the lacy bits. I’m a fan of wearing lacy underpinnings on a daily basis so I feel special and pretty. I urge you to do the same! For more ways to treat yourself and tons of gift ideas, head over to Urban Outfitters.
