I’m finally here! I rolled into Seattle around 7 pm Sunday night and have been basking in the ‘glow’ of my new neighborhood and gorgeous new apartment ever since. There’s one catch though: my stuff doesn’t arrive until next week! I’ve got the essentials with me, but I’m one of those people who needs to immediately feel at home, so I today I partnered with Glade to share some of my favorite ways to settle into a new home with flowers and fragrance.
Flowers have a way of making a house feel so much more like a home, especially in bold, vibrant, playful hues. Something I’m most excited about my apartment is proximity to Pike Place Market. I can walk there in 15 minutes, so it’s sort of the perfect place to stock up on fresh produce and flowers. Spring is definitely in the air here, so I picked super-saturated hues of orange and red for tulips, then added a few pale yellow daffodils. I borrowed a vase from a friend, arranged the flowers and that was it. It’s a really inexpensive, easy way to make a new space feel brighter and happier.
I also really believe in the power of fragrance, especially in the home. Every time I’ve moved, I bring a candle along with me so that I can immediately make my new home smell great. I chose Poppy Groove from Glade’s new spring collection for it’s playful nature. The notes of water lily, iris, and freesia definitely perk up my empty apartment and make it feel livelier. There’s something about this scent that I know will energize me as I tackle my mountain of boxes.
These two simple additions to my blank canvas of an apartment are the perfect way to tide me over until my stuff arrives, don’t you think?
