If I have one goal this week, it’s to hunt down the perfect pair of ’70s inspired shoes, and of course, I’m thinking platforms. It’s kind personal at this point: about 5 years ago, I fell in love with a pair by Céline. I still remember them, to this day. They fit perfectly, they weren’t too tall, they are on sale… and I walked away out of practicality. Sigh. Then I found a decent knock off pair and wore those into the ground. Flash forward to today and the knock off pair has fallen apart. I’ve repaired the soles many times myself (I’m handy with a hot glue gun), but they just don’t have another season left in ’em. It’s time to resume the hunt for my ultimate ’70s platform.
There have been loads of contenders, but I seem to always find a flaw: I don’t want espadrille, I don’t want to be too tall, I want a classic color… the list of requirements goes on and on. That being said… Here are a few of my favorites that I’ve found throughout my search. The look is a bit wedge, a bit flatform. The materials are definitely leather, but maybe I could go for a fun heel texture or pattern? I’m sort of on the fence. I just know how frequently I turn to a pair like this day after day come summer.
