These days it feels like I’m doing exactly what I want to be doing: planning loads of awesome photoshoots and sharing them with you guys. There’s quite a bit that goes into planning each and every one so that they run efficiently. I don’t want to waste my time or my photographer’s time, you know what I mean? So it’s pretty important for me to always have the right tools at hand. When HP offered a test drive of their HP Instant Ink service, my interest was definitely piqued. Essentially, it’s an ink replacement service — the printer actually knows when it’s running low, which prompts HP Instant Ink to ship new cartridges directly to your doorstep. This means you #NeverRunOut, kinda genius.
I’ve been having a blast planning shoots for my Shoulda Been a Florist series, so I wanted to give you a guys a little bit of a peek behind the scenes as I get ready for the next post. I pull inspiration from everrrywhere — Pinterest, Instagram, books and magazine… even flowers I pick up at Pike Place market over the weekend. Remember when I shared how I used the HP Sprout? Well, that guy comes in pretty handy for projects like this, too.
Once I’ve gathered all of my inspiration, I like to take it offline and do things the old fashioned way. There’s something about cutting out paper and layering it that speaks to my soul. I’ve always been really hands-on, so printing stuff out is important to me. From here, I usually make a list of what I need to pick up for my shoot and head to the flower market, as well as a few of my favorite flea markets (my collection of vintage vases is really getting out of control, you guys).
Are you a list maker, too? I also created a really cute free printable to do/shopping list that you can use to plan anything, not just photoshoots! Click here to download your copy.
