There’s something about summer that practically begs me to shirk all responsibility and just be outside instead. And, as hot as it’s been, I’ll do anything to catch a breeze. Living in the most urban part of Seattle, getting outdoor space can be tricky — hence, my studio’s fire escape. It’s not exactly the green space I crave, but at this point, any outdoor spot will do!
For the longest time, I was always really worried about pairing a voluminous top with boyfriend jeans. It’s just… a lot of fabric and a higher possibility of making, ahem, certain areas appear larger than they actually are. That being said… there was something so natural about pairing this top with these jeans. Maybe it was all of the skin I’m showing in the back, almost like it’s a distraction from the layers of fabric making my butt look enlarged. Or maybe it’s the skinny tie at the waist that helps to define and contain the volume. Either way, this look is both comfortable and super wearable for my day-to-day.
And can we talk about the back of this top?? I’ve had it hanging in my closet for the longest time and was always too much of a chicken to wear it. Then, one day, inspiration struck. It’s funny how that works, right?

Cute outfit! I totally know how you feel about boyfriend jeans and voluminous tops, and also about owning things that you never wear and then all of a sudden feeling like it’s the right time.
