I’m going to assume you’re familiar with the Man Repeller aesthetic — clothes that a woman loves, but are typically a bit of a ‘turn off’ for men. I’ve always struggled with this phenomenon, even before a label was applied to it. My personal style is simple: boxy, flowy top, great jeans, and a structured jacket. The accessories swap out for the occasion, but that is basically the gist of it. So it can be a bit… er, challenging to get dressed for a date. Like, I want to be seen as a desirable woman, but it’s also vital to me that I feel comfortable and express my personal style.
All of this boils down to picking the perfect pair of jeans, aka the key to offsetting that flowy, boxy top. My most recent discovery of the Levi’s 700 line has been a real game-changer, especially because they are available on Zappos. I’ve already got my favorite pair of dark blue wash jeans, as you can see from this past Style post, but what if I want to change things up with a new wash? I simply ordered the same 721 High Rise Skinny, but in soft black.
I’ve always been a big fan of mixing brown and black in one look. Because my booties have black laces and soles, they go really well with the jeans, but still stand out on their own. These shoes have always been a real showstopper, so I only like to rock them for special occasions.
This look is a bit edgy, but still quite sexy thanks to that bold red lip, huh?
I paired my Levi’s with a flowy silk top (similar, mine is from Rand + Statler) layered under a moto jacket. Then, I accessorized with a super-soft clutch in a feminine shade of mauve and sky-high lace up booties (similar, mine are past season Elizabeth and James). Lastly, that bright red lip (this is my favorite lip crayon)!
