one room challenge // loft bathroom, week 4

The loft bathroom reno is actually taking shape!! Last week I was still a bit nervous because the lighting took so much longer than anticipated, but this week I got to focus on my wheelhouse: textiles. Not sure if many of you know this, but back when I had a day job, I was a textile designer. You could say I know a thing or two about fabric (I’m often dubbed ‘fabric nerd’).

It all started with this shower curtain — I had to have it. The pompoms were just too darling and the perfect soft, bohemian touch to complement the handsome brick.

And then this rug… SO GOOD. I love the rag rug construction, the fringe detail, even the bits of black running through the ivory. It actually reminds me a bit of the Jaime Derringer piece I featured last week, so I’m really thrilled they get to live in the same space.

Speaking of the Jaime piece…

There are new towels to hang below it! I am totally obsessed with these Air Weight towels from Coyuchi. They are gorgeously soft, made of organic cotton, and they wash really, really well. I also picked up these striped towels at Homegoods, but I’m a bit undecided about them. I can’t decide if there are now too many stripes going on in the space and if they are the right shade of grey. Thoughts?

I also ditched the dusty blinds and put in these sumptuous linen curtains from Bellacor. The increased amount of natural light in the bathroom is unbelievable — no more bath cave! They are juuust opaque enough to prevent my neighbors from peeping, but I’ve found that I’m happiest when they are letting in as much light as possible. Oh, and the fabric… French linen. Sigh.

I am hoping to get more storage solutions in the space next week, especially in this open space next to the window. Maybe a white linen cabinet?

And while we’re talking about natural light, let’s also discuss my new plant friends! As soon as I moved into the loft, I knew I wanted to convert the bathroom into a bit of a jungle. There’s just so much open space. Plus, now that there’s a lot more natural light, I actually can!

That’s all of my progress for this week — what do you think?
