my hunt for a stylish laundry basket

The funny thing about living in a loft is that everything is out in the open. And when I say everything, I mean it. As I sit here writing this post, I can see every unfolded piece of clothing, every wayward sock, and my unmade bed.

This is kind of my biggest complaint about living in one, giant open space… and there’s one area where I’ve really honed in my focus: the laundry basket.

For so long it felt impossible to find a stylish laundry basket, but after doing an intense, extensive search online I found soooo many great options! In case you’re on the hunt, here are some fab options for a modern hamper.

My Hunt for a Stylish Laundry Basket

source: sea isle basket from Anthrologie. It’s sold out, but this one is similar.

I have this one that is open at the top and made of wire mesh. It’s pretty damn cool, but right now I hate it. Why? Because it’s like I’m airing my dirty laundry, literally. When guests comes over its like –hello– there are my dirty sheets and socks and underwear. All of this adds up to me needing a new laundry basket and it’s not like there is a lack of options. Here are a few I’m considering:

sources, left to right: Steele vertical canvas laundry bin from Crate & Barrel, woven hamper from Pottery Barn Kids, woven African hamper from Connected Artisans, fabric hamper from One Kings Lane (similar), lacquer bath hamper from West Elm (sold out, but this one is similar), and abaca laundry basket from Anthropologie (sold out, but this one is similar).

Here are even more stylish and modern hampers:

Ha! It’s consoling to see someone else has committed time to hunt for a hamper. I was feeling ridiculous and created a secret board. There’s quite a bit of overlap in our selections. Thanks for sharing!

Hunting for laundry baskets is as difficult as rugs, no!? You find one you love & it is stupid expensive… Anywho I am thinking of buying the Bamboo Foldable laundry hamper from West Elm (http://www.westelm.com/products/bamboo-laundry-foldable-hamper-b1633/?pkey=claundry-storage-organization%7C%7C) since I am sick & tired of looking the husband’s laundry all over the floor on his side of the bed! What do you think? I do like the one you’ve shown from UO too!
