One of my favorite things about this time of year is that it brings people together. It’s so easy to fall into the trap of giant sales and department store windows, shopping, shopping, shopping until the last minute without thinking about where it’s coming from. That’s why I love using Scoutmob this time of year. They’re all about championing the independent makers and have an amazing selection of handmade goods.
So instead of dwelling on my grinchy christmas gripes, I’m highlighting two things I love about the holidays, supporting independent makers and having a getting together with friends and fam! Get your home ready for a marathon of entertaining with some of my favorite independently made treasures and make sure you enter below for a chance to win $250 to shop Scoutmob’s beautiful goods.

First things first, make a cheery impression on your guests before they even step through the door. A holiday wreath should never be underestimated. In just moments it transforms an entryway into a warm, happy home, and it’s a great way to show off your personal style. Give your door a modern pop with the leaf cardboard wreath, or for a more natural look, go for something like the sweet bay laurel & olive branch swag (pictured above).

The next most important ingredient for your holiday party? Booze! I find there’s nothing that breaks the ice like offering your party-goers some fun mixers to experiment with at the bar cart. “Have you tried that cherry & thyme shrub yet? It’s so good!” You get the gist. If there’s no kiddos involved, no need to limit your favorite spirits to the bar cart either. These bourbon marshmallows are the perfect way to end the night on a sweet (and grown up!) note.

Even if you don’t have room for a christmas tree, make sure there’s at least a little holiday cheer with some easy decorations. I love using wall hangings for things like this. This merry christmas gold foil hanging is made of lightweight paper and trimmed with dark-stained balsa wood for stability. Perfect for storing away the other 11 months of the year then hanging up for instant holiday cheer.

One of my favorite things about the holidays are all the wonderful smells! Set the tone (and scent) for your get together with a special aromatic offering just for the occasion. Dreaming of a cabin in the woods? Light up a campfire scented soy candle for a warm and smoky smell to great your guests.

There’s nothing better to end a winter’s night with, than hot cocoa. Pull out all the stops and make sure you have some organic spiced hot cocoa mix on hand, with hints of vanilla beans and chili peppers it’ll warm you and your guests up in no time. For a last minute get together, just bring along some holiday hot chocolate sticks and you’ll save the day! Swirl the single-serving Belgian couverture chocolates into steaming milk and you’ll have a cup with lingering over.
Enter below for 9 chances to win. One winner will be chosen at random by Tuesday December 15 at 10:30 am PST. Open to US residents only. Winner will receive 1 gift certificate code valued at $250. Good luck!
