2016 reader survey results!

Wayyy too much time has passed since I asked you guys for your thoughts in my first ever reader survey — and, WOW. I seriously could not appreciate you all taking the time to fill it out, but also for leaving such thoughtful feedback. I really have taken your comments to heart and have so many plans to improve the blog going forward, especially now that I know what you love (and hate). I thought it would be fun to share a bit about what I learned through this process:

In regards to posting, most of you felt like the frequency of blog posts is good, yay. It can be tough sometimes to hold back on posts when I feel especially inspired, or when I have a passion project. So I’m really happy that the cadence of my posting feels good to you guys.

Favorite topics — It seems like fashion and home decor have won! Which is great, because I moved into my house this week and already have so many posts in mind about that. Expect lots of before/after posts, DIY posts themed around the house, and a LOT of storage ideas. Fashion is also always such a huge source of inspiration for me, both personally and professionally, so I’m stoked to hear you guys enjoy those posts, too. It feels great to know we’re all on the same page.

New topics you’d like me to cover — my creative process, behind the scenes, and creative career advice. I’m going to brainstorm ways to bring more of this type of content to you guys in an interesting, fun way!

Sponsored posts — I was also really thrilled to learn that you guys felt good about the number of sponsored posts, as well as the sponsors themselves. I try really hard to make sure that any sponsored content I do is a good fit as much as possible. There was one sponsored post that was a bit of a sticking point for you guys, the Wal-mart one. A few of you called me out for the timing of that post because it was in the midst of our 12 Makers of Christmas series for the holidays. I totally understand why — and I even stressed about it when I was planning out the editorial calendar! I didn’t do a good job of balancing sponsored content and other content that time, so I do apologize. I just wanted to be open with you guys and let you know that I will absolutely keep that experience in mind going forward.

One more tidbit… I’m planning a redesign! We’re hoping to launch a totally new look with lots of streamlined details in a few weeks. Be sure to stay tuned to check that out!

So, again, I deeply appreciate you guys taking the time to let us know your thoughts and feeling toward the blog. You guys are all so awesome and I’m really lucky to have you check out my little corner of the internet.

p.s. the winner of the giveaway has been contacted. Thanks!
