for your friday

What is it about black and white that has me so damn excited lately?? Now that I’m starting to actually begin work on the house and pull inspiration images to get design ideas, I find myself drawn to a bohemian mix of pattern, but all expressed in a black and white color palette. For example, these new hide rugs from The Citizenry. They are so chic thanks to the touches of black and the geometric patterns. I can’t help myself — I love how they remind me of vintage tile floors found in Italy. And OF COURSE I would want my living room to remind me of Italy.

Admittedly, I have a love/hate relationship with geometric patterns. I have yet to meet a chevron that speaks to me, for example. They just feel so… done. Instead, I prefer for my geometrics to have an unexpected twist: fragmented lines, organic lace, offset stripes, and anything eyelet. I just want everything to feel a bit special, more unpredictable!
