Are you pro or anti-flat sheet??

Now that we’ve got cohabitation under our belts, we’ve moved on to some bigger questions within our relationship. Namely… bedding! At first this post was going to be about a funny debate we’ve got going on in my household about our linen bedding: do you use a flat sheet? Or do you go straight-up fitted sheet + duvet combo? Lately, Sean and I have been experimenting with both. I’m one of those people who loves a tightly tucked hospital corner, while he hates having his toes restricted. It drives me nuts when he kicks out the corner on his side because my side still feels all rumped and unkempt. The horror, I know.

After much soul searching, I’ve found that I’m ok with forgoing the flat sheet altogether. Instead, I just make sure the duvet cover is super soft and cozy. It’s a happy balance.

Also recently I find myself needing to replace a lot of my bedding thanks to one really pissed off cat. It helps to think of it as the perfect opportunity to upgrade and treat myself to some linen sheets that I’ve had my eye on from Linen Tales in Bed on Etsy. These pieces from Lithuania feel luxurious and gorgeous, while also having some of the best pricing for linen bedding I’ve ever seen. It also helps that the color palette is exactly what I want and each item is sold individually (so I don’t get stuck with a flat sheet that we don’t need anymore!).

I’m still working on moodboards that will inspire each room of the house, so for now I’m sticking with neutrals, especially this melange sheet. That will go with everything. But eventually, I envision a really great mix-n-match color store with lots of gorgeous linen.

Editor’s note: I realized recently that Linen Tables in Bed doesn’t exist as a shop anymore! Here are more options for affordable linen bedding that are similar:

The flat sheet is a total bummer. When I get stuck with one I make additional pillowcases. In the winter i use a quilt and a duvet and 8 pillows. In the summer just a Kantha quilt and a large hand dyed Jersey throw. And 8 pillows. I just got 2 more pillows as a gift…. i may have to trade out. Linen sheets seem like a good idea.
