House of Hipsters + Jojotastic DesignOff with Decorist, Part 3

In the grand scheme of things when doing a makeover in your home, today is the second biggest day of the entire thing! It’s Design Reveal Day — aka when I finally share with you guys the selected look for my living room + tiny, tiny dining room for the Decorist DesignOff with House of Hipsters. Keep reading to see which design plan readers like you chose and why I’m so in love with it…

it's the BIG REVEAL of my living room + dining room makeover design plan from @decorist for the #DesignOff with @houseofhipsters! Without further ado…. we selected Layered Navy Boho!

While I was totally into Option 2, Moody Moroccan, there were a few sticking points for me. Namely, I wasn’t able to fully commit to the wallpaper. I love love love the marble design by Rebecca Atwood, but unfortunately just could not pull the trigger on installing it juuuuust yet. I have plans to tear down that wall entirely and re-build it in order to install a bedroom closet in the room on the other side, so it felt a little silly to commit to such gorgeous paper when my plan is to demo the wall in a year or two regardless… I still want to incorporate wallpaper into my home, but not yet.

THEN, when I saw these magical 3D renderings of my space, I sort of lost my mind… during this entire process I’ve really trusted Jessica to create an amazing space, so after receiving these life-like renderings I knew she was basically a genius. I honestly cannot get over how real these look, almost like there was a super secret photoshoot in my house? Crazy.

I also found myself drawn more and more to the textures, materials, and overall calmness of Layered Navy Bohemian — and I think you guys did, too! The votes when I asked for help picking were overwhelmingly in favor of this option. Funny how that works sometimes. Interior designer Jessica McCarthy (and Decorist) really nailed it with the materials and balance of light and dark for my space. I cannot wait to begin working on this room!

  • layered bohemian essentials — vintage and jute rugs, linen pillows, and mudcloth
  • touches of marble
  • prominent display of my road trip souvenir, this bison skull

Shop my list here!

Also, be sure to head to House of Hipsters to see Kyla’s selected design — I am DROOLING over her shelving and rattan chair.
