In my mind, September means one thing: figs! As a Greek, I love this season for sooo many reasons, but most especially for how well figs pair with my other love, booze. Lately I’ve been really into infusing alcohol with different flavors, so we whipped up this fizzy, yummy cocktail with fig-infused vodka paired with ginger. The result? My new favorite cocktail for fall — and hopefully yours, too!

Seriously, you guys… this cocktail tastes uncannily like Fig Newtons. It’s kind of crazy.

Fig Ginger Fizz
Ingredients
Ingredients
- 2 dried figs
- 10 ounces vodka
- 6 ounces San Pellegrino sparkling water
Simple Syrup
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 inch piece ginger peeled and grated finely
- 1/2 to 1 teaspoon lemon juice
Instructions
- In a small pot, whisk together sugar and water. Heat on medium heat continuing to whisk. Grate ginger into pot and whisk into the mixture. If liquid start to bubble or boil, reduce the heat and keep whisking. The mixture should look glossy and slightly thickened in heat. After about 5 minutes of stirring on low heat, strain liquid through a fine mesh sieve (this set is a personal fave), discard ginger pieces, and put simple syrup into an air-tight storage container. The mixture can be kept at room temperature for up to 2-3 weeks.
- In a blender, blend figs and vodka into a smooth, uniform mixture and strain through a fine mesh sieve. Discard fig bits and save liquor in air-tight storage container in the freezer (will keep for about a month).
- In a glass, add about 1.5 ounces fig infused liquor and ice, top with sparkling water, and stir. Drizzle in a teaspoon or so of the ginger simple syrup. Garnish with fresh basil and enjoy!
