There’s something about this time of year that turns me into more of a homebody than ever before. The days are still short, the weather has been so, so grey, and I’m just always sleepy. We’re also deep in the throes of construction on the bedroom (don’t miss my Instagram Stories), too. It seems to all come down to how much energy I have for something… and usually all of my energy is used up by 5 pm. These days, it takes extra momentum for me to leave the house for drinks or dinners. I’m not proud to admit that, but it’s the damn truth.
There are times when I have to be somewhere, when it’s a non-negotiable. I do my best to pull it together and look presentable in those instances. I’ve never been a formal occasion kind of girl. Rather, I’m happiest in a great pair of jeans, but have really come to understand the power of some simple math:
a black silk top + my favorite jeans + fun shoes.
And extra credit for a bold, red lip.
Even as I edit my wardrobe for my new closet, I keep this formula in mind because it’s just so damn easy and makes me look pulled together, every time, without fail.
This isn’t an ordinary black silk top though. You see, this one features a pussy-bow. Not that I’m throwing shade or anything…
Oh yes, and that’s my newest tattoo. She’s a Victorian era hand with an envelope sealed with the tiniest, sweetest red heart. I actually had a dream about this the day before I got it done and convinced my artist that I absolutely had to have a red heart on the envelope.
