spring cleaning tips for small spaces (all under $100, too!)

When I bought #mytinybungalow, I knew I’d have to get creative with my small space storage solutions. After all, this house doesn’t have a single closet! I’m in the process of installing one in the bedroom, but until then, I’ve had to get really creative. A few simple hacks have made a really big impact on our day-to-day here, and thanks to eBay and their Spring Hub, it felt like the perfect time to share my tips with you guys!

I’ve been a looooongtime fan of shopping on eBay for everything. From hard-to-find decor pieces to affordable designer goods, eBay is definitely my best resource for pretty much everything. They were kind enough to send over a gift card, which I used to get a jumpstart on my spring cleaning.

Here are some of my favorite small space storage tips:

Clear the visual clutter. I absolutely hate opening my pantry and seeing a million different labels. It feels like visual noise to me. Instead, I decant all of my spices and dry goods into airtight glass jars (these are my favorite) for an organized, Pinterest-worthy pantry!

Unexpected labeling. Sometimes you just HAVE to label something, like spices. Instead of going the traditional route of a sticker label, I wrote the names of my spices on the bottom of each jar with permanent marker. I still get my clean pantry look, but without text. I also shopped on eBay for a Polaroid camera and film so I could put my shoes in clear shoeboxes and label them with photos instead of text.

Streamline. This can mean many things, but for my clothing I find that the best way to maximize my small space is to use velvet hangers. They are slim, so you can pack more into a closet, plus they prevent items with skinny straps from falling off. I also suggest using drawer dividers for organizing your dresser. It helps to keep things neat and tidy.

Additionally, I find that shopping on eBay helps me to save money (for more renovations). When they sent me the eBay gift card, I was totally surprised by how far I could stretch it to cover my home’s needs. I was able to shop for the perfect food storage jars and get them brand new, but at a fraction of the price. And, if you know any new homeowners, an eBay gift card makes an fantastic gift… hint hint ;) An eBay gift card is perfect for any occasion because there are so many options on eBay, so the recipient can find anything they want, at any time.
