Happy Margarita Week, you guys! It’s my second year in a row participating in this and I couldn’t be more excited to share this recipe for the Paloma-rita. It’s sort of a mash up of two drinks I really love: a Cadillac margarita and a Paloma. Both use the refreshing, bright taste of grapefruit, but I’ve changed things up with smoky mezcal and a bit of mint for a cocktail that’s perfect for Cinco de Mayo (or really any occasion, to be honest).
The Paloma-Rita (makes 1 drink)
Ingredients
- 2 slices of grapefruit
- 1/4 cup soda water
- 1/4 fresh grapefruit juice
- 1/4 cup mezcal
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- handful of mint leaves
- pink salt (I really like this one from ILA)
Directions
Rim the glass with a swipe of grapefruit and the salt. Place grapefruit slices, mint, and sugar in the glass and muddle. Pour in grapefruit juice, soda water, and mezcal. Stir until the sugar is dissolved. Garnish with mint and a festive straw.
We’ve been serving up these delicious drinks while hanging on the patio on sunny afternoons, but I’m hoping to make them at the boat sometime soon, too!
Here’s last year’s Blood Orange Mezcal Frozen Margarita recipe + be sure to check out everyone else’s for 2017, too!
