No Make Up Home Tour (aka what #mytinybungalow really looks like)

Today’s post has me feelin’ a good bit of excitement and nervousness… because it’s the first ever No Make Up Home Tour! Started by my friend Kyla of House of Hipsters, this is the opportunity to see what my home really looks like, day to day, without the styling, the photoshopping, the editing. And you get to see lots of other bloggers’ homes as well (be sure to check out the full list below to see everyone’s home). So you’re probably asking why I’m nervous. Well, you’re about to see my kitchen and bathroom, two rooms I have never been shown on the blog before! So grab a coffee and a snack and get ready for some fun and REAL home tours.

When you first walk into my home, you’re immediately in the living room. It’s the brightest, airiest room in the house because of the french doors and windows. Chances are, there will at least one wiener dog hanging out on the couch, watching the neighborhood. Most of the plants are in this space, too because the light is so damn good.

Then we have my favorite seat in the house. This corner is really unresolved because the last time you saw it, it was my home office! I’ve since moved to a studio space, so the lounge chair moved to this corner and we got a credenza. The TV is a major eyesore and super old, so we might be replacing it soon (waiting on those Black Friday sales). Then the art… this is Sean’s piece and was our compromise when he moved in. It needs to be reframed to match the rest of the art in the space. I like that it’s big enough to balance out the TV, which we will probably end up mounting on the wall.

Also, my coffee table plant is longgg dead and now replaced with candles and crystals. I’m pretty much constantly burning a candle.

The dining room is right off the living room and usually the table is covered in props for whatever I’m shooting that day. You might also notice some green tape… those are all the touch ups that we STILL need to do from the bedroom renovation. They’ve been there for months.

The bar cart is in the same spot, but definitely fuller. And it’s now home to our Alexa!

The bedroom, my most favorite room in the whole house, is just off the dining room. It’s the most recent renovation, so it still mostly looks the same. The bedding is way more rumpled and Georgette is always curled up here.

Ok… and now the kitchen. (I cannot believe I am showing you guys this.)

So… this is our kitchen. It’s mustard yellow, but not in the good, cool kind of way. The appliances are ancient and sinking into the floor. It’s very, very dark and the cabinetry is gross. My countertops and backsplash are made of floor tiles and we don’t have a dishwasher so there is always a stack of dirty and clean dishes. This plant window is the only thing in the kitchen that I like and that I intend to salvage when we renovate.

Finally, here’s the bathroom. It’s just off the kitchen which is sort of weird, but in a 1 bedroom house from 1908 I guess that’s just how they did things. It used to be really dark, but when I got a new roof I also installed a mini skylight. It’s been amazing, maybe one of the best decisions I’ve made for the house. There’s finally natural light in what was once called ‘The Bath Cave.’ I might even add some to the kitchen.

You can see that we’ve already done a lot of demo to the bathroom in order to make it functional. Helloooooo subflooring! When I moved in, the sink barely worked, so we salvaged this pedestal sink. Like, we literally found it on the parking strip of a home down the street and brought it home to install. At this point, I try to hide as much as I can in the bathroom with cute textiles. I’m hoping to renovate this soon!

So that’s my entire house — all 640 square feet of it! It’s pretty tiny, huh?

Awww I think its great, the bathroom is still pretty cute! We are in the same boat, with our bathrooms, think strategically hung shower curtains, large basket of toilet paper, and greenery that I’m pretending distracts the eye. It really doesn’t. Super cute! So glad I found your blog through this blog hop, new follower right here. :)

Brave girl! Fist bump of solidarity! I’ve been taking apart my kitchen bit by bit for years! So your bathroom and my kitchen are in the same boat so to speak. We were planning on remodeling it but every time it seemed like we’d have enough money to get started, life would happen and that money would have to go elsewhere. Sigh.
