my October beauty report (with Perricone MD, BH Cosmetics, BECCA & more!)

The month of October has been a really interesting and evolving time for me in my makeup routine. I’m usually pretty maintenance and often don’t wear much make up. Lately, though, I’ve fallen down the rabbit hole of beauty YouTube and I am obsessed! I’ve found myself watching hours and hours of videos about contouring, eyeshadow blending, the pros and cons of certain foundations… like hours. There are a few products I’ve wanted to try thanks to this new addiction of mine, starting with BH Cosmetics and BECCA (plus, I’ve tried a few more skincare products, too).

Makeup:

To be honest, I found most eyeshadow and contouring palettes to be really overwhelming. I’m still very much a natural, non-makeup makeup girl. That being said, I have found a palette that I really like: the Deluxe Carli Bybel eyeshadow and highlighter palette from BH Cosmetics. The eye colors feel really natural and blend really nicely without being too much for a novice like me. Honestly, the palette is appealing to me because it just feels really approachable. I also really like the variety of highlighters in this palette, too — especially as I play around with highlighting more and more! Also, this was my first time ordering from BH Cosmetics so I was a bit curious about the quality. So far I’m pretty happy with the product!

Speaking of highlighting… I’ve also fallen in love with BECCA products, specifically the Sunlit Bronzer in Bali Sands and the Luminous Blush in Camellia. I’m pretty fair-skinned, so a lot of the time a bronzer can make me look super orange or blush can make me look like a clown. The BECCA products seem different though… they go on slightly translucently, so I can add more if I need to without feeling like I have too much on right away.

If there’s one thing that YouTube has taught me, it’s that primer is important. I’ve been using the mini of the Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer and I really like it. I haven’t noticed it making me breakout, which is a major plus. Usually I wear a tinted moisturizer instead of foundation, so this seems to help that lay a bit smoother and reduce the visibility of my pores.

Skincare:

Perricone MD sent me their most recent collection, the Pre:Empt Series. I’m always really excited to try their new products and these did not disappoint at all. I especially love the Refining Shower Mask. I’ve never tried a mask in the shower before, but basically once you wash your face, put on the mask and leave it on while you do the rest of your shower routine. The mask is gets tingly and always leaves my skin feeling soooo soft.

I’ve also been enjoying the Daily Brightening Moisturizer (with SPF 30) and The Fixer Solid Oil. That last one is another awesome product that can be used in tons of different ways. The product warms up and turns to a lightweight oil in your hands, but what’s most surprising is how quickly it absorbs. I’ve been carrying mine around in my purse to help contain flyaways in my hair or to smooth crackle cuticles on my hands. I love it.

That palette looks great. Have you tried RMS Beauty luminizer? It’s been my favorite thing lately, super easy to apply and all natural.
