This month’s skincare and beauty edit leans more toward the skincare side of things. Despite my intense travel schedule, I made sure to take good care of my skin — especially because I was wearing so much makeup at blogging events and my friend’s wedding. Let’s just dive right in! To start, my favorite change of the month has been switching to a new natural deodorant. I am now obsessed with Vapour Beauty and their palo santo & blood orange deodorant. It is beyond amazing. I don’t get funky a few hours after applying, I can work out with it on, and it smells amazing all day long. If you want to make the switch, I highly recommend it.
Skincare
I also started using the Kate Somerville Exfolikate Cleanser and I looooove it. I received it in a gift bag from an event months ago and I can’t believe it has taken me this long to use it! The cleanser is a bit pricey, so I save it to use after I’ve been working in the garden and I know my pores need a deeper clean. Sometimes I even pair it with my Clarisonic if I’m feeling extra fancy. I probably do this process about once a week.
I’ve also been really into this whole Alpha Beta system from Dr. Dennis Gross which has started being carried at Sephora recently. I start with the Pore Perfecting Cleansing Gel, then the Universal Daily Peel. The peel is basically a two step process, with a packet containing a pad that you wipe on your face for a few minutes for each step. I was really worried that it would burn or sting, but I haven’t experienced that at all. Afterwards, I always finish with the Exfoliating Moisturizer and, I swear, my skin has never felt so soft. It’s really quite amazing how much of a difference this routine has made in the quality of my skin. I also have noticed that the areas around my cheeks are a lot glowier, too. Even my pores seem a bit smaller. It says you can do this every day, but, again, they are pricey so I try for once or twice a week.
Lastly, I’ve been applying Lano Intensive Hand Cream to my hands every night before bed. The lemon scent is really bright and fresh, while the cream absorbs really quickly and makes my hands feel smooth. After all the yard work I’ve been doing, I really need this step!
Makeup
It was kind of a quiet month for me in terms of makeup. I stuck to my trusty favorites because I was in a wedding and traveling a ton. I didn’t want to risk any surprises. A few new additions though are the Perricone MD No Makeup Instant Blur and The Ordinary High-Adherence Silicone Primer. I wanted my makeup to be consistently flawless, so I used both to create a really smooth canvas that would keep my makeup in place for a really long time. I found that the Perricone MD really did an awesome job of blurring (hence the name), so it’s definitely a personal fave. I applied the primer first in my cheek areas under my eyes, on my chin, and my forehead, then followed with the instant blur in the cheek areas, too. I had a few dry patches that I put the instant blur on and I noticed that it really helped to prevent my makeup from settling into the dry spots, too.
I also tried a (new to me) setting spray, Urban Decay All Nighter. This is definitely my favorite setting spray of the ones I have so far and I love that it doesn’t have an overly strong scent. And, lastly, I’ve been obsessed with this Nyx Butter Gloss in Créme Brulee. It’s the perfect glossy nude and goes with everything.
