my (super low maintenance) morning skincare routine

So many of my post ideas lately have come from Instagram, like today’s for example! You guys always inspire me so much. I tend to share my current skincare and makeup products there more, so a lot of people have inquired about my morning skincare routine. I tend not to wear makeup on a daily basis, instead saving it for photoshoots and special occasions. It took me a while to feel confident enough to walk around bare-skinned, but now I actually feel weird if I have makeup on during the day!

I always start off the day by washing my face with a really gentle cleanser. Lately, I have been loving the gentle facial cleanser* from Seed Phytonutrients. Not only does it smell so good, but the feel of it is lightweight and doesn’t dry out my skin. I also really like that it contains seaweed, which helps delay signs of aging. After I wash my face, I pat it dry then apply the Milk Makeup Cooling Water. It’s like a funny little deodorant stick that depuffs your under eye area and makes you look more awake.

Next, I do a few spritzes of Pixi by Petra Hydrating Milky Mist. This stuff, you guys… I cannot get enough of it. I love how refreshing it feels, especially as the days get warmer, but I have also noticed a marked difference in how moisturized and bouncy my skin feels. While it’s absorbing into my skin, I use the Nurse Jamie Uplight Massaging Roller.

I recently did a deep dive on the internet to find out more about jade rolling and found a bajillion YouTube videos about this roller and how amazing it is. I’m still figuring out if it has actual benefits for my skin (it promises to help with the signs of aging, as well), but it feels so damn good so I’m gonna keep using it! I tend to clench my jaw when I’m stressed, so at the very least this roller helps to relax and loosen those muscles.

The last step of my morning skincare routine is applying SPF. Even though I live in Seattle and it’s not always sunny, I am religious about weighing sunscreen on my face. My obsession with Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream SPF 30* continues, by the way. This is my absolute favorite day-time moisturizer that contains SPF for so many reasons: it doesn’t have a weird smell, it absorbs really quickly, and it doesn’t leave my skin looking ghostly white. I’ve struggled for a long time to find an SPF day cream that I like and I really just want to announce it to the world how much I love this one. I’ve also found that I am able to layer makeup on top of this product, as well.
