hand-picked clean beauty at Follain

You guys… I am so excited about Seattle’s newest store, Follain. It opened last Friday in U Village and I got a somewhat private tour thanks to my poor calendar management skills (apparently the press preview was Thursday and I showed up on Friday… OOPS.). Thankfully, the founder, Tara Foley, was there and walked me through how she started the brand, the mission of Follain, and all of her favorite products. Oh, and she’s just plain lovely! Not only is the store gorgeous, but it also features a thoughtful curation of clean beauty, skincare, and haircare products unlike any store already here. As I replace more and more of my products with natural, clean alternatives, I am sure that Follain will be an incredible resource going forward.

The shop itself is gorgeous to boot, so I had to share a few of my snaps with you guys. The white subway tile… the clawfoot tub… the gorgeous shade of medium green… whoever did the branding and store design for Follain deserves a medal cuz it is stunning.

While chatting with Tara, I learned that Follain typically does not carry the full product line from any one brand. Instead, they have curated a mix of products that are the best of the best for each category… which essentially means that, as a customer, you know you’re getting the best of the best. Oh, and those products have been through a rigorous approval process! I really love that they’ve done the work for me instead of having to spend hours researching the right products for my skin.

These are just a few of the brands that Follain carries (some of which are my personal faves!):

  • Herbivore Botanicals
  • French Girl
  • Tata Harper
  • True Botanicals (a longtime fave!)
  • One Love Organics
  • Vintner’s Daughter

Also, there is a natural makeup counter! Personally, I am really excited about this because it means I can finally green-up my makeup bag. In the past I’ve struggled to know which shade was right for me because I’d usually have to order natural makeup online. Seattle just did not have many options! But the Follain store has a dedicated section to makeup, including a knowledgeable staff to help you make selections. I will definitely be revisiting this section in the future, especially as I start to think about the makeup look I want for our wedding.

The new Follain store also has a super cute sink area where you can fill a glass bottle with their own liquid soap. There are 4 fragrances from which to choose: lavender, lemongrass, peppermint, and sweet orange. Basically, you take your refillable bottle back each time and choose a soap that you like the best… or mix them! The liquid soap is multi-purpose, too, and can be used as both body wash and hand soap. I really love how even little details like this make shopping at Follain a cohesive clean beauty experience.

Don’t worry if you’re not based in Seattle, Boston, or Bethesda (their latest store is opening there!) — the online store is a dream to shop!
