Are you a bath taker? I totally am. To me, there is nothing better than stepping into a hot, relaxing bath… I literally do this at least twice a week! I haven’t been able to indulge in many baths since the kitchen renovation started because it also took over the bathroom. Over the weekend, I lost my patience and did a crazy deep clean on the tub so I could finally get back to my favorite indulgence! You better believe that I took the most epic bath of all time that night… But while I was soaking, I thought a bit about how my bath routine was really the best type of self-care. It’s the only time when I leave my phone in another room and when Sean knows not to disturb me. So this week’s Wellness post is all about how I set the scene for the most relaxing bath EVER!
How to Take the Most Relaxing Bath EVER
Light Some Candles
Bath time is all about setting a scene and overhead lighting is just not part of a relaxing experience in my opinion. I like to light a bunch of tealights and maybe a few scented candles so that I have a nice, warm glow of light. Then turn off the actual bathroom lighting. It’s all about creating a spa-like experience! Here are a few candles I’ve been loving lately:
Add Bath Salts
Now that I’m working out again, it feels like my muscles are just constantly sore. Epsom salts and bath salts work wonders to help with sore muscles, so I’m really happy that our tub is back in commission! When it comes to bath salts, I really only use one kind, the Immunity salts from Hillockburn Farm. These salts are made of a blend of Pacific and Alaea Hawaiian sea salt that helps to rejuvenate your body. The addition of lemon, eucalyptus, and tea tree essential oils makes these bath salts perfect for helping to give your immune system a quick boost, too!
Use Essential Oils
You can also make any of our DIY bath bomb recipes for an amazing bath experience. Our recipes are easily scaled up, so you can make a big batch and always have them on hand! This is a great way to include the benefits of essential oils in your bath ritual in the quickest way possible. I just love how bath bombs help to provide stress relief in one tiny little package.
Indulge in Bath Oils, Too
Admittedly, I make bath time a bit… extra. I view my soaking mix like a cocktail: a little bit of this, a little bit of that. I have been hooked on Aromatherapy Associates Revive Bath & Shower Oil for the past year and it’s my holy grail bath oil. It’s a little out of my budget, so I reserve it for special occasions only. I absolutely LOVE the way it smells thanks to a mix of pink grapefruit, rosemary, and juniper berry essential oils. And it makes my skin insanely soft.
Put On a Face Mask
While soaking in my relaxing bath, I still like to multitask. I figure that the steam from the bath water will help open up my pores, so this is the perfect time to do a mask! I’m really into charcoal masks these days because they help to draw out impurities in your skin. I can never dedicate myself to just one face mask, so here are a few that I’ve been loving lately:
Play a Mediation App
Sean knows that bath time means that I cannot be disturbed. It is literally the one thing I do for myself when it’s alllll about me (I’m working on that bad habit…), so he’s really respectful of it. To help my brain fully relax into the experience, I like to play a meditation app. Check out this post to learn more about which apps I use and what I like about them.
Don’t Forget Luxurious Textiles
The relaxation shouldn’t end when the bath water gets cold! Keep luxurious textiles on hand like beautifully soft Turkish towels (Weftend makes my favorite ones), a luxurious bathrobe, and cozy slippers.
After bath time is over, I usually go straight to bed. A good soak really puts me in a sleepy mood and ensures that I actually get a good night’s sleep!
