Living in a construction site and living in a small space is quite the challenge. Honestly, it felt like the kitchen renovation had taken over our entire home (all 640 square feet of it!) until eBay reached out to share their new partnership with Havenly, an online interior design service. I knew it was time for a dining room refresh — especially because we had just re-painted the accent wall! Alexis, the Havenly designer, took that color into account when she sent the design options, which was so helpful. From there, she sourced everything we needed to get our dining room ready for hosting holiday guests — and all from eBay!

Before Photos
Again, thanks to the kitchen renovation, the ‘before’ was not great… we had to re-build the entire wall, so the rooms essentially was a blank slate all over again. After about 3 months of it looking like this, I knew it was time for a dining room refresh.
The Design Plan From Havenly
After a few rounds, Alexis, Havenly’s professional designer, sent over this design moodboard and selections for pieces to complete the space — and I loved it! She helped me source everything I needed to complete her vision from amazing eBay sellers, while also pulling pieces that were already in our home.
Our Dining Room Refresh: After
For our signature pop wall, we chose a deeper, truer blue shade of paint called Anchors Aweigh from Sherwin-Williams. While I loved the old color, it make the new floor in the kitchen skew purple, so we had to change it. But it’s a happy change because I absolutely love the depth of this new shade. It’s even better than before!
We kept our existing dining table, dining chairs, and bar cart, so Alexis helped source new decor items. She chose a round, bleached jute rug that is absolutely incredible and so perfect for the space. I love how it brights up the room and grounds our dining table.
She also convinced me to keep our dining chairs! I find them to be a bit uncomfortable when we sit in them too long, like after a dinner party. Alexis suggested making the chairs cozier with faux sheepskin — and I am sooooo happy I listened to her. The addition of the fur texture is so subtle, but impactful, too. And, just like the rug, I got it all on eBay!
As for the smaller decor pieces, we moved some of our existing art collection into the dining room. She also chose decanters to deck out the vintage bar cart, then styled a simple, but elegant moment on the table. I love all of the different materials and finishes she chose for the small decor pieces. Gold, touches of wood, rustic ceramics… it all feels so me!
