Who among us hasn’t tossed and turned while lists of to-dos and/or imagined ;emergencies; endlessly unspooled in our minds, to the detriment of much-needed sleep? In order to soothe my mind and facilitate deep, restful sleep, I’ve started to spruce up my nighttime routine. I bought myself a really luxurious night cream and invested in some sweet springtime pjs. Linen sheets are next on my list, but until I’m ready to make that investment, I turned to my standby essential oils to round out my new bedtime ritual. Keep scrolling to see how to make this super-easy, deep sleep inducing DIY!
P.s. Hi, friends! It’s been a minute since I’ve shared a DIY tutorial around these parts and I blame the fact that Joanna and I are both planning our weddings right now — a fact which is both exciting and exhausting.

How to Make a Deep Sleep Pillow Spray with Lavender Essential Oil
Materials
Tools

First start by painting the spray bottles. I opted to keep the dreamy theme going by dotting white enamel paint constellations onto my bottles. I used a zodiac chart like this one and then used a small paintbrush to create slightly bigger dots for the bigger stars. Then, I went back in and painted tiny dots in between to finish the constellation. You could paint on any combination of constellations for the night sky or even do your own zodiac!

Once you’re done painting, follow the instructions on the paint bottle to cure the paint. Then, after it’s fully dry, fill it about half-way full with water.
Fill the bottle the rest of the way with witch hazel, leaving about a quarter of an inch of empty space at the top. Pour in 20-50 drops of lavender essential oil, depending on how strong you’d like your spray to be. I opted for about 30 drops for a scent level that’s definitely detectable, but not overwhelming. You can always add more later, too.
Shake the bottle well until all the ingredients are incorporated, then spritz your pillow with the spray right before you go to bed and get ready to dream sweet dreams and experience a deep sleep.

I love that lavender not only smells wonderful (and conjures images of lavender fields in the South of France — very dreamy), but also helps calm the body, therefore reducing stress and aiding in deep sleep. Pretty much the best chain reaction ever!
What do you do to get your mind and body in the right space for sleep? I loved adding this pillow spray to my nightly routine and hope you will, too. Sweet dreams!
