As I hinted at last week on Instagram, I’ve made a few changes to my studio space. Specifically, I added a lounge area so that I could sit, daydream, get inspired, have meetings, and (most importantly) nap. With all of the kerfuffle of life that’s been happening for us (kitchen, wedding, etc), the studio was sort of a mess. With the help of CORT Furniture Outlet, I recently gave it a quick refresh, so I wanted to share 3 easy ways to update your studio office!

Update Your Studio Office with These 3 Easy Steps & CORT Furniture Outlet
Doing a total overhaul of my studio space simply was not in the cards. Especially given how much is already on my plate! But, with the help of CORT Furniture Outlet, I was able to add 3 key pieces to make the space feel fresh. Now my studio is a place I actually enjoy being — instead of a dumping ground for stuff!
Create a spot to get cozy
Ever since I signed my lease 3 years ago, I wanted a sofa in the studio. Most of the time I work from my standing desk, but there are times when I really want to sit down. Also, I am a HUGE napper, so having a place to do that finally is awesome. I love being able to sit down on the sofa, away from the computer. Often, I skim through magazines, brainstorm new content ideas, or simply doodle while I’m here.
Consider your lighting
I’m really sensitive to bad lighting. My studio came with a massive fluorescent overhead light that I can’t dismantle. I usually avoid turning it on, but in the winter, I can’t resist. Now that I have an arc lamp in here, though, I won’t have to use those lights again! I’m forever in love with arc lamps and the drama they add to any space. I was shocked to find such a great style with a marble base for $119 at CORT. Truly, one of my best scores to date.

Get organized with a rolling cart
Because I use the sofa as a place to get inspired, there are certain tools I wanted to have readily available. I found this handsome, functional rolling cart at my local CORT Furniture Outlet and knew it was perfect. It’s slim enough to fit into any corner. I stocked the cart with my favorite pens, pencils, paintbrushes, sketchbooks, and magazines that need to be read.

Why shop from CORT Furniture Outlet
I am forever thinking of ways to minimize my carbon footprint, so the idea of purchasing gently used furniture is really appealing to me. I love shopping at the CORT Furniture Outlet for so many reasons. First, there is always a huge selection of styles and products. Literally, I could spend hours at my local store in Tukwila on the hunt! Second, you know you’re going to score something good. The furniture that CORT sells has been used in model homes, on movie sets, by home stagers, in corporate apartments, and more. Also, the furniture itself is manufactured to a higher standard than most furniture, so that it will withstand several moves and still hold up in showroom condition.

The sofa in my studio is a great example of this. The upholstery still looks brand new, the cushions are firm, and I honestly could not tell that it had been used. As I decorate more and more spaces, shopping at CORT Furniture Outlet is becoming my best kept secret!

So, what do you think of my new inspiration lounge area? I think my next step will be to install a corkboard over the sofa so I can tack up more inspiration. And have you ever shopped at CORT Furniture Outlet? Leave a comment and let me know!
