Warning: this is a looooong post with SO MANY sources. I’ve been asked a lot for flush mount lighting suggestions. Probably because as a small space dweller, we don’t have the ceiling height needed for a big, dramatic chandelier or pendant! There are so many options out there, but on the flip side, there are some terrible options, too (hello, boob light). Because I can’t be in your home picking out the perfect fixture for your space (totally wish I could though), this is a list organized by finish. And every flush mount listed in this post is one that I’d put in my home in a heartbeat!

My Ultimate List of the BEST Flush Mount Lighting — in 3 finishes!
What is flush mount lighting?
Often referred to as close to ceiling lighting, this style is typically the lowest profile fixture you can install in a space. A lot of the time, flush mounts are installed in hallways, entryways, kitchens, and maybe even a bathroom. The fixture is mounted flush to the ceiling and typically has a depth of about 4-8 inches.

Brass Flush Mount Lighting
I’m starting with my most favorite finish… brass! I absolutely LOVE the warmth that this finish brings to a space, which is why we’ve used it so much. There are also options within this finish including aged brass, antique brass, and shiny brass.

Black Flush Mount Lighting
If you’ve been a longtime reader of my site, you know that matte black is EVERYTHING to me. I simply love the contract and drama that a large, black light fixture brings to a space. Most ceilings are painted white, so installing a black flush mount is a great way to add a focal point to the room and draw the eye upwards.

Silver, Chrome, Pewter & Nickel Flush Mount Lighting
For a timeless, classic look anything in the silvery finish family is great. I’m talking about silver, chrome, pewter, and nickel. There are varieties within each of these finishes, too, including shiny and brushed. It’s really up to you, but I prefer to mix at least 2-3 finishes within a space, so that it feels more ‘designed’ and elevated. Our kitchen is a good example to reference.
