More than anything, I want my blog to be a resource for you guys — especially when it comes to purchasing items that I’m really excited about. That is why I first starting sharing my Things of Note series. I sort of fell off of the habit during the holidays (there’s just so much to share when it comes to holiday-specific content), but I am back… and I have a lot to share including a Toms of Maine deodorant and Birkenstock’s new slippers!

Joanna’s Things of Note from January 2020 (including Toms of Maine, Birkenstock & more)
As always, please note that a few of these items have been gifted to me. I have indicated that with an asterisk * next to the name of the product. As usual though, I am only sharing what I have absolutely loved and would spend ‘real money’ on regardless.
Tom’s of Maine Natural Strength Deodorant in Fresh Sage*
Admittedly, I have tried my fair amount of natural deodorants — with mixed results. Last fall, I specifically put in an effort to fully transition to a natural deodorant and I feel like I am FINALLY there. It can take a while! The one I have been loving the most is this Tom’s of Maine Natural Strength Deodorant in Fresh Sage. Not only does it smell really good, but it WORKS. I’ve noticed that my pits are drier, smell better, and that it lasts longer. There are a few other scents I want to try, including Fresh Coconut.
Speaking of… would you guys like to see a post dedicated to how I transitioned to natural deodorant??
Birkenstock Slippers
Um, I don’t think I will ever wear another pair of slippers ever again. I was a long-time Uggs fan, but never totally in love with them because they didn’t offer enough support. Come summer, I live in my Birkenstock sandals, so when I discovered that they are now making slippers… I just about lost my mind. They are SO GOOD. If you’re looking for supportive and warm (but not too warm) slippers, definitely look into these.
Otherland Candles*
I think by now, we all know how obsessed I am with candles. A current favorite is Sacred Dusk by Otherland Candles. Unfortunately, this particular fragrance was a limited edition. But I really love their candles, so I feel confident in saying they are ALL good. The packaging is super beautiful and each set comes with a set of matches (another detail that I love).
Piero Sweater by Paloma Wool
I have reallllly cut back on my clothing shopping, plus I am focused on buying fewer but better pieces. This winter, I felt like I was missing a neutral, oatmeal colored sweater. So when I saw this sweater at my friend’s boutique, I HAD to have it. I love how simple it is, the fit, the material (so soft!), and the quirkiness.

Strange Bird Beauty Cleanser, Serum, & Moisturizer*
I actually feel like I could write an entire blog post about how much I love these clean skincare products!!! Not only are they all natural, organic, and such high quality, they also work so well. The cleanser alone is phenomenal and I love that it can be used as a mask, too. Finally, each product comes with a grounding mantra and spiritual prompt to help transform your skincare routine into a self-care routine — how genius is that??
BTW, they were kind enough to give me a code for you for 15% off your order. Use JOJO15 at check out.
Floral Libations by Cassie Winslow
Once we’re finally off Whole30, I am so ready for a special cocktail — especially once the weather gets warmer. I’ve been reading Floral Libations and bookmarking all of the recipes I plan to make while entertaining. It’s also a beautifully styled and photographed book that I highly recommend adding to your cookbook collection.
IGK First Class Charcoal Detox Dry Shampoo
Truly my favorite dry shampoo! I hate that it’s an aerosol, but I have yet to find a product that works this well for my hair texture. I first used it as a free sample from Sephora and immediately loved how much oil it absorbed and how it gave me that perfect rumpled, bedhead look. I will say that the scent is overwhelming at first (Sean always complains), but it settles down after a while. And if you use it, a little goes a long way.
Marbled Enamelware Tray
Hello, my name is Joanna and I am addicted to trays… they are just so good for corralling anything. This marbled enamelware tray is the latest addition to my collection. The blue marbling is definitely a favorite of mine for obvious reasons, while the size is perfect for our coffee table. I style candles, crystals, palo santo, and matches on ours.
So these are my 10 fave products from January! If you have any tips or requests for February, leave a comment and let me know.
