3 Small Changes to Refresh Your Home Right Now

I am entering week 4 of staying home and not gonna lie… I’m going a little stir crazy. It’s to the point where I am considering moving around all the furniture in the living room… even though I really don’t have time to do that! Instead, I have brainstormed how to refresh my home with just a few small changes… and you probably don’t need to buy anything to do them yourself. Here’s what I’ve done so far, but let me know what else should be on this list!

3 FREE Ways To Instantly Refresh Your Home

Change up the textiles on your sofa

I am, admittedly, a textile fanatic. I constantly re-style our sofa (would you be interested in a post with a few different ways to style a sofa??). When it comes to refreshing your home, I suggest starting by washing all of your pillow covers, throws, slipcovers… everything. Bonus points if you spray the pillow inserts and sofa with a linen spray.

Once everything is clean and dry, think of ways to arrange it all on the sofa so it feels different than before. Sometimes that means draping a throw over the seat of the sofa or on the back cushions. Or maybe you can swap pillows from another part of your house. I also love to use rugs to drape on the back of a sofa for a pop of texture and pattern. Just make sure they get a good vacuum before you drape!

Clean your windows — on both sides!

Seriously… do this and report back because it will make SUCH a big difference. I think it’s easy to forget that your windows are literally your view of the outside world… so clean them up. You don’t need anything fancy, just some rags and window cleaner. The first morning after you wash your windows will be totally glorious because SO much sunlight will be coming in. Trust me.

Swap your rugs

Whenever I am feeling truly antsy in our home, I move our rugs around and swap them out. Sometimes the bedroom rug comes to the living room or the dining room… and the kitchen rug goes to the bathroom. It’s fun to change things up AND you can feel productive while you do this because chances are you’ll have to vacuum, too.

Sean and I have a joke that he comes home from work and doesn’t always know what the house will look like because I change things around so often… and that’s been happening a lot lately since I work out of the bungalow exclusively.
