9 Things of Note | April 2020

Since I took last week off, April’s Things of Note post is a little bit behind. Sorry about that! But there’s so much good stuff in this post… as I was gathering some faves to share, I wasn’t expecting there to be a lot of products to share. Basically, I haven’t been shopping much in quarantine since our budget is pretty tight, but apparently I have enough to fill this post! Funny how that happens… Let’s dig into some of the products I tried and loved this month, including decor from Bloomist, my bff’s new book, and more!

As always, please note that a few of these items have been gifted to me. I have indicated that with an asterisk * next to the name of the product. As usual though, I am only sharing what I have absolutely loved and would spend ‘real money’ on regardless.

Drinking With Chickens book

Ok, I have to start off this post with the thing I am most excited about… the Drinking With Chickens book!! My dear friend Kate wrote it and it’s been incredible to watch her creation process behind the scenes — and then to physically hold the book in my hands. It’s so beautifully photographed, hilariously written, and the recipes are tested and AMAZING. I highly recommend trying the Honeyed Paloma. It’s delicious and really easy to make, but tastes fancy!

Hempland USA Cannabitol therapeutic cream*

I’ve been having some back pain over the past week and this CBD cream has been so helpful. It feels absolutely incredible when you first put it on. Tingly and cooling… but also warming, too. Plus, I’ve noticed that it lasts longer than what I’ve been using before.

By the way, if you’re curious about CBD, you should definitely read this post from the blog archives.

Ice roller

When Grate Atwood swears by a product, you know it’s good… that’s why I ordered an ice roller. I have not regretted this decision once. Ice rolling feels absolutely amazing. I’m always so surprised by how good my skin looks after I use it, especially for such an affordable product.

Terra nail polish

What I wouldn’t give for a pedicure right now… while ordering home goods from Grove, I saw the perfect shade of red from Terra and just had to have it. Terra is supposed to last as long as at the salon, but without ingredients like formaldehyde and parabens. It’s free of 10 chemicals commonly found in nail polishes, while also having some AMAZING colors. Definitely check it out.

Maison Miru charm necklace*

I’ve been really into layering necklaces lately, so when Maison Miru reached out to send me something, I was stoked. I opted to build my own with a chill pill charm and evil eye medallion. I’m already hooked and want to keep playing with my layers!

Cloud socks

OMG THESE SOCKS. They are appropriately named because they’re made of terry. They’re squishy, comfy, cozy… and maybe the best socks I’ve ever had to lounge around the house while quarantined.

Pale wood chain from Bloomist*

I’ve always loved styled shots where there is a string of beads draped elegantly over a stack of books… now that I have these handmade wooden links from Bloomist (my newest home decor obsession), I can finally do that! At first I felt a bit intimidated, but it’s almost like they style themselves. Wherever I use them instantly looks more curated and I love it.

Oval stone frog from Bloomist*

Frogs are a super-versatile element in flower arranging, so I knew I wanted this one made of hand-picked stones. As our yard comes into bloom more and more, I’ve been using this pieces to display branches and add an element of nature to simple glasses vases. And, of course, it’s from Bloomist… see, isn’t their stuff so good???

Handwoven towel from All Roads*

Back when I worked for Anthropologie, I met Janelle of All Roads and we’ve kept in touch ever since. She sent me this incredible handwoven cotton kitchen towel as a thank you for an easy favor I did for her. It’s so incredibly soft and thick… but not in a way that prevents the fabric from draping nicely. And it’s in pretty much all of my favorite colors!
