Hi friends. I’ve admittedly put off writing this post for over a week, but it’s time to get back to normalcy and routine. I want to start by thanking everyone who’s sent kind words, flowers, and even memes to bring some lightheartedness to our lives. Every time a major life event happens (and there have been a lot of them recently), we are always amazed by the amount of love we receive.
I shared on Instagram, but in case you don’t follow me there, Lucy unexpectedly passed away just under two weeks ago. Hence my silence here on the blog. It’s been really hard for us, not just because her passing was so sudden and so surprising, but also because she is so deeply loved. Lucy’s absence is so deeply felt in our home and we’re pretty devastated by her passing. Grief is a weird, horrible, painful thing and we’re doing our best to make space for it, but also try and just keep going with our lives. It isn’t easy, but we’re doing our best to cope.
Within the blogging and social media world, it’s always hard to know how personal to get and how much to share. Sometimes it can feel like I’m bring a ‘Debbie Downer’ and I worry that sharing the hard stuff will alienate the people who choose to follow me. But at the end of the day, I hope that by speaking openly about the grief and feelings of loss, I can help someone in a similar situation feel less alone.
As much as possible, this blog will resume normal posting frequency and content starting tomorrow. Thank you again for your patience and for keeping our little family in your thoughts.
