Wow, yet another month of 2021 has breezed by! September is honestly my favorite month because it’s when the weather starts to turn. I looove the golden light, autumnal colors just starting to peek through, and the cooler temps. Plus, our wedding anniversary falls in September. This month found us just as busy as last month, so I’m excited to share a bit more of a personal look behind-the-scenes in our latest monthly life update!

The Tiny Zoo

Our crew is doing so well and really loving life out here in the country. The dogs have been having a blast exploring the yard as we split firewood in preparation for winter. Even Georgette, our cat, is venturing out onto the front porch to take in some of that excellent golden fall sunlight.

As for the chickens, we are hard at work winterizing their coop so that they’re all set when the rain starts coming down. We also expanded their yard and nearly tripled the size of it! Plus, they now have a 6′ tall fence to keep the in… and predators out. I’m up to 31 hens and 4 roosters now, which definitely provides us with a ton of laughs.

In sadder news, one of the hens unfortunately passed really unexpectedly last week and that was kind of hard. I think it brought up a lot for me as I’m still very much grieving Lucy. It doesn’t really get better, I just get a little bit better living with the grief every day.

My Health

The biggest and best update this month is that I had my semi-annual check up with my pulmonology and it was great news! I’m doing so well that we are reducing my visits down to once a year! He’s happy with how I’m doing, which is such a huge relief. I still have a few more appointments to do that are related to the other components of my Birt Hogg Dubé syndrome, but for now I’m choosing to bask in this great news.

Business + My Blog

I am busier than ever now! Fall and holiday seasons are basically my biggest time of year with brand partnerships and things are definitely starting to ramp up. I am really excited about it and planning so much amazing holiday content and inspiration to share with you. If you’ve got any requests, too, let me know!

Us

Sean and I have been doing great! He was home for about 3 weeks, taking a break from work and spending time here at the cabin. I absolutely loved having him around, especially the belly laughs. The cabin and life out in the country in general is just so much more fun when Sean is here. Plus, it was our 2 year wedding anniversary while he was here!

We had a really fun trip to Seattle during the middle of his break for my doctor appointment and had a nice little date night at our favorite restaurant. It’s so nice to be able to do that again now that we’re vaccinated! We started on our sailboat as usual, which is where I snapped this awesome photo one night. I’m obsessed with this shot!

The Cabin

We also celebrated our official one year anniversary of living in the middle of nowhere during September. I honestly still cannot believe it. We’ve done SO much. Time has both blown by and crawled along. And I’ve learned so much about myself… and I continue to! Ultimately, the cabin won’t totally feel like home until Sean lives here full-time. I got a taste of what that’s like recently when he was home for a few weeks and it was pure MAGIC.

So that’s a snapshot of what life’s been like for us in the month of September! As always, thank you so much for following along on our journey and being so wonderfully supportive of everything I share here and on social media.
