January is definitely a weird month. I saw someone call it the ‘Monday of the new year’ and that felt so spot on. Not going to lie, this month was off to a slow start for us, especially after quite a challenging December.
The Tiny Zoo
The crew is doing really well! We’ve had our fair share of snow adventures, which Diamond loves and Noodle hates. Even Georgette got interested in the snow a little bit and requested to come outside to check it out… and then immediately went back indoors!
Diamond has really matured a lot and is getting better at finding her chill. We’re still working on her being calm when people come into the home, but she makes improvements every time. It’s so funny to me how easy it’s been to train her because she’s so eager to please, while Noodle is his own little man and does not want to be told what to do ever.
My Health
Still no real change, just maintaining! My biggest focus has been not getting COVID and focusing on resting. I’ve actually been working a LOT on my morning routine and trying to find one that helps me feel like I’ve got a better start to the day. Some things I’ve been trying are not looking at my phone or any tech for the first hour of the day (not always possible, but I’m trying), journaling while I drink my morning coffee, and spending more time outside with the dogs walking around. Whenever it gets warmer and less icy, I want to get into more of a routine of taking Diamond for longer walks.
The Cabin
Projects are still on hold for the time being since I’ve been wanting to slow down a bit. I do have plans to work on our bathroom, plus flooring for our bedroom (more on that here!). But honestly, my biggest daydream project right now is conceptualizing my plans for my vegetable garden. Literally ALL I can think about is growing our food this summer!
Business + My Blog
Work has been good! I’m finally starting to feel more and more into my grove in terms of creating new content that I hope you’ll find valuable and interesting. I’ve also been having a LOT of fun creating videos for both Instagram and Tiktok. I love that both platforms have provided me with another way to show personality and a bit of humor — I hope you’re enjoying the videos, too!
Us
We’re just keeping on keeping on… Slowly getting more and more prepared for the many adventures that come with living out here and trying to also make time for ourselves whenever possible. It’s a tough balance to strike, especially since Sean works in the city during the week.
So that’s a snapshot of what life’s been like for us in the month of January! As always, thank you so much for following along on our journey and being so wonderfully supportive of everything I share here and on social media.
