If there’s one thing I’ve learned after a year and a half of living in a remote, rural area… it’s that preparation is key! With that comes having a fully stocked pantry, plus some key kitchen gadgets. While I might not be an expert home cook (or even someone who uses a crock pot or Instant Pot), there are a few kitchen tools that I absolutely swear by and use nearly every day. I wanted to share my top 5 with you today, just in case you’re in the market for rounding out your kitchen supply collection.
My Top 5 Kitchen Gadgets That I Swear By
Before we dig into each item, definitely check out this list of every single tool from my kitchen. I wrote this post when we had a much smaller kitchen in our old bungalow and it’s still very helpful if you’re looking for a full list of my recommendations for cooking and baking.

Braun MultiQuick Hand Blender
If you are limited in storage space and need a tool that does a ton of things (or if you simply love kitchen appliances that are useful and well-designed), I could not recommend this kitchen gadget enough. Not only is it an immersion blender, but it also comes with various attachments including a whisk, 1.5-cup chopper and a blending beaker. I use it to whisk together fresh whipping cream and to chop salsa so easily. I’m obsessed with it — and it’s oh-so-easy to clean. Plus, at less than $100, it’s an incredibly versatile tool.

Microplane Classic Zester/Grater
If there are two ingredients that I include in almost every dish, it’s citrus zest and grated cheese… and this affordable tool is perfect for both! It’s such a simple, straightforward kitchen tool but very useful. I’m considering getting one of the wider ones from the same company to replace the cheap IKEA one that I use when this one isn’t clean or is in the dishwasher, too.

Kuchenprofi 13″ Deluxe Splatter Guard
If you cook a lot like me, you know just how much splatter can build up on the cooktop and counters. Because of that, this deluxe splatter guard is my go-to for containing the mess. It’s so nice to know what grease won’t jump out and burn me while cooking, too!

Dualit New Generation Classic 2-Slice Toaster
Ok, let me preface this by saying that this is NOT a cheap toaster. This is an heirloom-quality toaster that is incredibly well-made and most likely the last one you will ever need to buy… and I am obsessed with it. I wanted this specific toaster for about 10 years before I actually committed and splurged. And it’s been worth it in the 6+ years that I’ve owned it. It’s low frills and just does a really, really good job (while being very cute on the countertop).

Quickone Takei Energy-Saving Fuefuki Whistle Kettle
For the longest time, I was using a cute kettle that was pretty much designed only to use for pourover coffee. I bought it for the looks and then was frustrated by it every time I tried to boil water for something else. After a lot of digging, I found this affordable Japanese-made kettle and really love it. There are so many subtle, well-designed elements to it, including a whistle that you can hear across the house.

So what do you think of my top 5 kitchen gadgets and tools?? Did any of your faves make the list? I’m always looking for ways to streamline my kitchen and cooking process. So if there is anything else that you love and swear by, leave a comment and let me know!
