6 Ideas for Bathroom Decor You Should Totally Steal For Your Home

Incorporate pieces of furniture

Ok, maybe this is a tip for those of us with big bathrooms… but one of my favorite ideas for bathroom decor is to use furniture. For example, we have a vintage cabinet in the guest bathroom that functions as a linen closet. We also have a stool next to the pedestal sink to give guests a spot to use as a counter… ah, pedestal sink life.

Create a gallery wall

I think people play it safe while decorating their bathrooms. But why not have fun with it?? In our main suite’s bathroom, I created a bit of a gallery wall by grouping together pieces of vintage art that complement the wall color and each other. I love the visual texture it gives the space!

Show off your sense of humor

Similarly to the gallery wall idea for bathroom decor, I always love to hang something funny or unexpected over the toilet. A great example of that is the horse needlepoint in our guest bathroom. It’s a silly little thing that just shows our sense of humor. Plus, it’s a great conversation starter when someone first visits us!

Make temporary changes

A big part of the work we’ve done in both of our bathrooms has been to make them cute temporarily until we can afford to renovate them fully. For example, we installed Chasing Paper’s peel and stick flooring in our guest bathroom since we weren’t ready to commit to tile yet. It’s worked out SO well for us and I absolutely love it still. Be sure to check out my review of the floor tiles — they’re pretty great!

Similarly, paint is another easy bathroom decor idea because it can be changed. That’s a big part of why I took the plunge and painted our’s a shade of orange! Since it’s temporary, why not have some fun with it?

Don’t forget to bring in houseplants!

Plants are always a good idea — especially in a bathroom. I’ve even written a blog post all about the 5 best houseplants to put in your bathroom! Choose plants that love humid environments such as ferns, pothos, and spider plants.

I’ve shared a TON of posts about houseplants here on the blog, so if you want to dig into that deeper, here’s a recap:

Use a vintage rug

Typically, vintage rugs can be pricy. But smaller ones are more affordable, so why not incorporate one in your bathroom? I like to use a 2x3ish size and then I put out traditional bathmats for use. That why when you step out of the shower, you have a bathmat to drip onto instead of a beautiful vintage rug.
