March in the Pacific Northwest (especially here in the North Cascades) is a bit of a gamble. You never really know when spring will officially arrive and stick around. But I’m literally the least patient person ever… so I’ve already got a TON of patio decor ideas that I’m so ready to make happen. First up, I am working on tackling some patio decorating and a few changes to the concrete area off of our bedroom suite in partnership with Better Homes & Gardens exclusively at Walmart.
All About Our 2022 Patio Decorating and Landscaping Plans
What the concrete patio looked like last year
The biggest change I plan to make when it comes to decorating our patio is to create a different area for outdoor dining. Last year, we set up a great outdoor dining area on the patio, but I realized that it wasn’t really working for us as much as we wanted it to. First of all, the kitchen is on the entirely opposite side of the house, making it hard to bring food around to it. And second, to access the dining area, you either have to go around the house or through our bedroom… not my fave.

So instead, I am going to put my DIY landscaping skills to use this spring and summer to transform our patio into a chic outdoor lounge space instead! I feel like that makes more sense, given that our hot tub is already there.

Moodboard
To get started with these changes to our outdoor entertaining space, I picked up a few new pieces from the extensive patio and outdoor section from Better Homes & Gardens exclusively at Walmart. There are so many affordable options!

Affordable outdoor lounge furniture
I’m a really big fan of the furniture we already have from Better Homes & Gardens exclusively at Walmart. The quality is great and I always love the prints! I’ve actually had my eyes on this 3-piece set of black and white upholstered chairs and side table since last year, so I finally was able to snap it up this year. The bold stripes make me so happy and I love how they add a bit more of a modern, whimsical vibe to our patio.
This conversation set is a great start to turning our patio into the outdoor lounge area of my dreams. I also added on textural, minimalist black outdoor pillows. You can never have enough outdoor pillows, in my opinion! I love how chic these are.

A neutral, oversized outdoor rug
Because I chose a bolder pattern for the seating area, I wanted the rest of my patio decor to complement it. I chose this neutral outdoor rug to ground the space while also covering up our unsightly concrete (still need to do something about that!). If you’re in the market for a neutral outdoor rug that’s super affordable, I highly recommend this one! It’s very versatile.

Textural outdoor pillows
And lastly, the finishing piece to all patio decorating: stylish outdoor pillows! The texture on these is really lovely in person.
When it comes to patio decor and picking outdoor pillows, I recommend selecting a few different options for a mix and match look — which is SO easy to do at Walmart. There are literally tons of options of materials, size, color, and more… and I want them ALL.

These additions are perfect for rounding out our existing patio decor. I can’t wait for you to see it all come together once the weather is a bit better!

So what do you think of my goals for patio decorating this year?? I’m planning a LOT of outdoor decor projects, landscaping, and gardening this spring and summer, so be sure to check back in to stay updated.
I love the look of this! Hoping to create something similar in our small backyard!
Thank you!! I’m soooo ready for the weather to clear up so we can enjoy it more!
