I am so excited to share this peek into my home office setup with you today! Even though we’ve lived in the cabin for over 18 months now, my office has been the last area we got settled. Probably because when we moved in, I immediately had to get back to work! With the help of my friends Better Homes & Gardens exclusively at Walmart, I finally got my workspace organized in a way that the ‘kids’ on TikTok refer to as an aesthetic desk set up. There are tons of little organization hacks in this post, btw!
All About My ~Aesthetic~ Home Office Setup
Before
As you may recall, my office was in a much smaller room in the cabin that had a very low, angled ceiling. I worked from that room for a year and just never got settled in. I ultimately ended up really hating that room… which resulted in me working from the couch and avoiding the room as much as possible. Not great!

So, on a whim, I convinced Sean to help me move the couch from the gear room into the old office to make it a TV room… and then move my office into the gear room. And I’ve been SO happy ever since we made the change! It’s so nice to have a normal ceiling height and so much more light. Plus, I love being able to look over and see all of our outdoor gear — it basically inspires me to get my work done faster so I can go outside and play!
After!

My Home Office Desk Setup
Because this is my office and where I go daily, my goal was to prioritize form over function. But you know me… it still has to look good! I extended my electric standing desk by adding a storage cubes organizer to the end which holds sketchbooks and publications I’ve been featured in. From left to right, the fabric bins hold my art supplies and tech equipment like chargers, extra cables, etc.

The additional surface area is great for holding my printer and a cute rattan basket that holds additional tech items. Plus, it’s a great spot to keep a candle safely lit for a bit of olfactory inspiration.
I love these small rattan baskets for keeping my notebooks and files on hand, but still tidy. I’m not always the best about maintaining a filing system, but having a catchall like this for immediate needs helps a lot.

A cute sitting area (and spot to nap)
Behind my desk area is a sofa that actually folds into a futon for guests just in case. But mostly, I use it as a place to sit away from my computer where I can focus on other things. For example, I like to sit here as I’m posting things to social media via my phone. It’s also a great spot for the dogs to hang out while I work!
I added these textured pillows and plaid pillow for some coziness. I love how they complement the piece of art. Similarly, how cute is this mint task lamp?? It even has a charging port on the base so I can charge my phone while editing videos.

My wall of storage cubes
And next… the pièce de résistance: my storage wall! Truly, this part of my home office set up is the most satisfying part to me.
It makes me SO happy to look over and see this super-organized wall of storage in my office. The storage cubes are a subtle textured white, while the fabric bins are an ivory for a tone-on-tone look that I love. Then, I used the surface created by the smaller storage cubes as a tabletop for all of my art supplies.
Pro tip: If filing things isn’t your jam, set up dedicated bins for each category in your home office. For example, one bin is dedicated to camera gear, another is dedicated to ribbons, and another is dedicated to office supplies. Be comfortable changing your storage around so that it works for YOU!

I think what I love the most about this home office storage solution is that I can expand it if I need to by adding or stacking more cubes. Also it’s so convenient that Better Homes & Gardens exclusively at Walmart has SO many options for bins and baskets that perfectly fit the shelves.

So what do you think of my newly settled and very well-organized home office setup?? It honestly makes me so happy and inspired. I don’t mind spending hours a day in here, especially because it just feels so ME… and like the best spot to run my small business. Let me know what you think!
I really like this space, well done! May I ask what’s the wall color???
Thank you so much! The color is linked on this page: https://jojotastic.com/shop-my-house/?filters=product_cat%5Bgear-room%5D
Your space looks amazing! Both for feeling creative and productive!
Thank you so much!! I love it!!
I loved the gear room from the moment you get rid of the purple, so I wasn’t surprised to see that you moved your office in there! Definitely inspiring.
aww thank you! I was literally the happiest human the day I painted the first coat over the purple.
I love how simultaneously cozy and airy this space feels. The wrangled clutter makes the space feel so effortless and the color is like a warm hug with that beautiful wood. Your spaces always feel so inspiring!
Aww thank you SO much!! That really means a LOT. I know I’m not the tidiest person, so that’s a big compliment :)
