Sweet, salty, savory, umami, chocolatey... these are my all-time faves to take camping
The Best Camping Snacks from Trader Joe's: My Go-To Picks for salty, sweet, savory, umami, and chocolatey snacks to take on your next camping trip

Let’s be real here: snacks are my love language… and also the best part about preparing for a camping trip. And Trader Joe’s is the best place to stock up for the best camping snacks, IMHO. Sweet, salty, savory, umami, chocolatey… they literally have it all. I absolutely love an excursion to TJ’s. So today I wanted to share my all time favorites and the best camping snacks from Trader Joe’s. Leave a comment and let me know if any of your faves made the list!

The Best Camping Snacks from Trader Joe’s: My Go-To Picks!

I know that the snack offerings can vary at each Trader Joe’s location. Plus, they are always coming out with new ones. But for now, these are my absolute must-haves for pretty much any of our car camping trips. If you’re going backpacking, I recommend re-packaging them into smaller portions and maybe even hard-sided containers to avoid anything crispy getting crushed.

Milk Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups

Ok, picture this: you’re sitting around the campfire and making s’mores. You know what makes a s’more even better?? Milk chocolate peanut butter cups. I also save the plastic container and remove the label, then use it as a mini greenhouse when I’m starting plants for my garden!

Rice Crackers Medley

If you love variety in your snacking game, I highly recommend these! Honestly, they are at the very top of my list of the best camping snacks and I am so glad they’re finally available back in stores. Some of the pieces are a wee bit spicy, too!

Crisp Crunchy Mochi Rice Nuggets

There is a good reason these mochi crisps have a cult following… they are SO good. And if you’re a texture eater like I am, you will most likely LOVE these. I also love salty, so these really satisfy that craving while we’re camping.

Organic Watermelon Jerky

I don’t entirely love regular jerky. But I am a sucker for anything watermelon and watermelon-flavored!

Scandinavian Swimmers and Super Sour Scandinavian Swimmers

The super sour version are for Sean, while the regulars are all for me. I tend not to like sour-coated gummies because they make my teeth feel furry. But I love the unexpected flavors of these gummies from Trader Joe’s. They even now have a baggy that is only the lobsters!

Rosemary Marcona Almonds

I especially love this Trader Joe’s snack when we’re backpacking because they are perfect for getting a bit of protein into my body asap. They taste so good and I love the hint of rosemary. I also like to think of this as a healthy-ish camping snack!

While you’re at Trader Joe’s, pick up some pizza dough and try any of these 3 pizza recipes — the spicy pesto and grilled artichoke one is my personal fave!

Popcorn with Herbs & Spices

While this popcorn might be the most basic of camping snacks, I have found that it’s a crowd pleaser. So if you’re going camping with a group, this savory popcorn is a must. It’s easy and goes with everything!

Milk Chocolate Covered Mini Pretzels

Meet my one true love… sigh. I loooove anything salty. Have I mentioned that I love SALT?? I LOVE SALT. Well, these Trader Joe’s snacks cover all of my bases: salty, savory, and chocolatey. Just keep in mind that the chocolate will melt and you’ll be left with a wild mound of snack. It isn’t a bad thing, just something to be aware of.

Baked Cheese Crunchies

These are basically the Trader Joe’s version of Cheetos, but I love them so much more. The diminutive size of each crisp is so satisfying to me. Don’t forget though… you’ll have orange fingers! But really that means you should eat them while hanging out next to an alpine lake or river so you can rinse off or go swimming!

When I’m trying to cut back on my chocolate snacking, I like to munch on their Turkish Apricots but you really can’t go wrong with any of their trail mix options!
