Monthly Life Update, September 2022

Stay updated on my latest adventures!
A quick life update about my health, our cabin, our pets, my business, and more. flowers from my cut flower garden including cosmos, roses, and zinnias

I know I say this literally every month, but September flew by even FASTER than all the other months. Is it because I’m older now and this is just how time passes? Or is it the fact that our society is moving at such a crazy pace and it’s a result of that? I have no idea, but all I know is that I blinked and it’s nearly October. I digress… this month saw lots of gardening, our third wedding anniversary, and even some traveling!

Monthly Life Update: September 2022

The Cabin

The nights have started getting cooler and cooler in our area which means one thing: winter is coming. I’m definitely not emotionally prepared for colder, shorter days yet. But that doesn’t mean I can avoid our annual preparations! We’ve been splitting and stacking a lot of firewood, putting away outdoor furniture, and cleaning up to ensure minimal damage during any storms that come our way.

We also finished up the TV room makeover and it’s rapidly become one of my favorite spots in the house. But that happens every time I finish a space!

The Tiny Zoo

Our crew is doing well! The geese especially are just so wonderful. They make me giggle constantly and are warming up to me more and more. One of them, Michael Phelps the Pilgrim goose, has been practicing trying to fly. He gets about a foot or so off the ground and it’s really cute.

My Health

All good still (except for my annoying seasonal allergies still)! I also had my first flight since my pneumothorax which is something I’ve been a bit worried about because of my lungs. Not just because of COVID, but also because of just not really knowing how my lungs would react. I’m still in Philadelphia visiting my bestie and have yet to fly back, but so far so good! It feels great to know that it is possible and totally ok for me to travel again.

Business + My Blog

Like I said, I had a pretty big and engrossing freelance project for content creation going on for most of the month, so that took up a lot of my bandwidth. I really enjoyed what I was working on though, so it was well worth it.

I’m also excited to have some new collaborations lined up with some amazing brand partners. Also, believe it or not, I’m already starting to think about the holidays and all the fun content I want to share with you. If there’s anything specific that you want to see, leave a comment and let me know! So far, I’ve got loads of gift ideas and entertaining tips on my list, but you know I always love when you guys send over requests.

Us

We started off the month celebrating our third wedding anniversary on September 7. Originally our plan was to go camping and hiking around the area where we got married. But over the course of the first night of our camping trip, a lot of smoke from nearby forest fires rolled in. It was awful and we had to pretty much immediately leave. It was such a bummer, but I think we’re going to try to have a raincheck for the trip in October.

ICYMI here’s what I shared on the blog this month:

I had a really big freelance project going on behind the scenes so I wasn’t able to post at my usual frequency. I hope you enjoyed the posts that I was able to share though!

So that’s a snapshot of what life’s been like for us in the month of September. As always, thank you so much for following along on our journey and being so wonderfully supportive of everything I share here and on social media.
