Anytime I share an ‘ask me anything’ box on Instagram Stories, I know that I’ll get loads of thoughtful questions. During my most recent one, I was asked for my favorite places to shop for dec pillows… and that’s when I realized that I’ve never written a blog post about it! So today I wanted to share my definitive guide to where to shop for decorative pillows — my favorite sources, picks for stylish accent pillows that I’m loving right now, and a few more tips and tricks. I hope you find this guide helpful!
Where to Shop for Decorative Pillows
When it comes to choosing dec pillows for any space, I generally follow a basic formula which I’ve outlined here on the blog before. TLDR: it’s all about the mix! To me, that means mixing shapes, textures, styles, sizes — and places where I sourced the actual pillows. I don’t want my home to look like a catalog for any one brand or company. So I mix and match from different retailers. This also helps to design on a budget!
Budget-friendly Decorative Pillows:
Whenever I’m shopping for new accent pillows, I start with affordable stores first. That’s where I usually find my core, basic pillows that are a great backdrop for the statement-making pillows.
With collections now from Justina Blakeney, Studio McGee and more, Target has really stepped up their game for affordable throw pillows. When I find a pillow that I love from Target, I update it with a down insert so that it feels a little bit more luxe.
After working with Walmart as a brand partner for 2 years, I can confidently say that I continue to be wow-ed by the selection of stylish throw pillows they offer!
Here are a few more options for where to shop for more affordable throw pillows:
- Urban Outfitters – great for trendier pillows that make a BIG statement. Although not the most price-sensitive these days!
- World Market – if your vibe is more boho, definitely check out their throw pillows
- IKEA – good for super-basic pillows, but also I love their down fills. Double up on the inserts for a nice, full look
- Amazon – I updated my Amazon Shop with LOADS of gorgeous throw pillows
- Overstock – I continue to be amazed by how many awesome finds there are!

If you’re in the market for a statement pillow or two, Anthropologie is definitely a good place to shop — and I’m not just saying that because I used to design pillows there!
Crate & Barrel
I love Crate & Barrel for high-quality basics and a subtle, textural pop within the mix. I also love shopping on their site for pillows because they are organized by color group!
Furbish Studio is a personal fave when it comes to cheeky needlepoint pillows that are tiny and so fun.
I am picky about what I buy from West Elm, but when it comes to pillows, they definitely have that figured out! There are some great options. Plus the price points cover a wide range, so it’s more attainable than some other brands on this list.
Lulu & Georgia
If you want your home to have the look of an interior designer’s touch, I recommend shopping for pillows from Lulu & Georgia. They have great collaborations and so many gorgeous textures.

One-of-a-Kind, Handmade and Vintage Throw Pillows
Etsy is by far one of my favorites places to source pillows, especially truly unique options that are one-of-a-kind or handmade. You can even find pillow covers that are made with vintage fabric and trims! I also love that you can just buy the pillow cover in most instances because then you can re-use your pillow inserts. I keep track of the pillows on Etsy that I love here.
