It’s probably because February is a short month, but it really flew by! As I sit here and put together this post, there’s actually about 10″ of snow on the ground from a recent storm and it’s the perfect cozy ending to the month. I’m ready for March though… not only because it’s when my birthday is but also because my best friend is coming to visit the cabin for the first time! I’m getting ahead of myself… let’s chat about what February was like for us.
Monthly Life Update: February 2023
My Health
I’ve been feeling good! I’ve been working on putting together a plan to catch up on all the ‘preventative maintenance’ stuff that I haven’t done for my body over the last couple of years. Somehow, it feels like I got off track with taking care of myself. I think part of it was due to COVID precautions and everything being closed. Then we moved and I just never established new habits in our new location. But that is changing now!
The Tiny Zoo
Everyone is great! Milo and Adeline are continuing to settle in and get more and more comfortable in our home. Admittedly, Milo has been a little bit more of a challenge for me because he’s SO attached to Sean. He’s really vocal about it and we all know I love my peace and quiet.
I’m curious about potentially hiring a trainer to literally come all the way out here and work with us to help him, Cesar Millan-style. So we’ll see… the weather has been extremely wet, so we haven’t been going on as many walks, too. Even though I’m loving the snow this week, I am definitely ready for spring so I can get the dogs on walks again and tire them out!
The Cabin
A good friend of mine, Erin Austen Abbott, is coming to photograph our home for her newest book this summer, so I have been working like crazy to get all my half-finished projects completed. I just want the house to look as good as it can! That includes my new puzzle nook, finishing up decorating our bedroom, and making some changes in the dining room. I’m hoping to share more of those projects here on the blog soon, too!
Business + My Blog
My freelance work keeps growing and I love it! I’ve been slowing down a bit on content creation for my own business (like fewer blog posts), so it’s been really nice to change things up. I love working on other brands – especially because it feels like I’ve got so many ideas! Lately I’ve felt like it’s easier/more fun to brainstorm for someone else’s business than my own. The change of pace has been very welcome.
Us
We’ve been keeping busy, as always. Living out here is a lot of work! We have a running joke that country life means moving piles of stuff (rocks, bricks, sticks, logs…) from one side of the property and then to another spot a week later. And then we inevitably have to move the pile again. But here’s the thing: there’s no one else I’d rather move rocks with! Especially because we are definitely laughing the entire time.
So that’s a snapshot of what life’s been like for us for the past month. As always, thank you so much for following along on our journey and being so wonderfully supportive of everything I share here and on social media.
I love these snapshots of your life! :)
aww thank you!
We got a pet behaviorist after getting a second cat to sort out some behavior issues. They were actually virtual which included sending lots of videos of the cats (when home and away — pet cam came in clutch here), and zoom call sessions. It was enormously helpful. Might be a good option and they said they liked it better since pets don’t behave the same when strangers are around.
oh wow that is an awesome recommendation! thank you!
