Slightly over 50 hours until my best friend in the Slightly over 50 hours until my best friend in the entire world and my soul mate in female form is here in my guest room where I can harass her any time of day for 6 whole days and don’t you think that this means the guest room deserves some attention since it’s come so far??? GAH I CANNOT WAIT AND I AM INSUFFERABLE UNTIL @daniellexrivera GETS HERE 🥹🥳🤗🤣
a work in progress but still so perfect to meeee 🥹 we had our first sunny afternoon since I started my puzzle nook transformation and the glow is just as gorgeous as I had hoped!
Next on my punch list:
〰️ hang more thrifted art and finish gallery wall
〰️ decide on pillows: these rust velvet pilows may migrate to the sofa… and I’m considering doing two long lumbar pillows or bolsters here instead, perhaps made of upcycled vintage rugs?
〰️ hang lighting: I have a chic swing arm sconce to add directional light for the ultimate puzzle illumination!

Do you have any idea how low the ceiling is in our Do you have any idea how low the ceiling is in our bedroom?? Let's just put it this way: I am 5'6 and can stand normally and palm it easily 😂 because of that, I knew we had to go ultra-low profile for our flush mount lighting.
While shopping for one, I feel like I became an accidental expert in the topic 🤓💡 So today on the blog I shared 5 Factors to Consider Before Buying a Flush Mount Ceiling Light. The post is basically an easy guide to help you select the perfect flush mount ceiling light for any space in your own home.
Get all my lighting tips on jojotastic.com + link in my profile.
PS I WILL NEVER GET OVER THE BEFORE OF THIS SPACE 😏
Progress in our colorful cabin has been a bit slow Progress in our colorful cabin has been a bit slow because I’ve admittedly taken on way too many projects all at once (weeeeee), but I am thrilled with how my new puzzle nook is coming together!
The breakfast nook benches from @overstock are literally amazing — they add so much storage and were very affordable especially when considering how much time and materials would be for us to make our own. I bought them in unfinished pine and painted them using @dunnedwardsdura so they match our walls! The end result so perfectly complements our marble tulip table from our previous home 🥹
I still have a few more elements to figure out: lighting, artwork and the cushions. I’m not fully convinced that the rust colored velvet pillows are right… its too much of that color because of our natural cedar wood on the steps, don’t you think?

It's been a minute since my absolute ✨favorite✨ room in our cabin got a shout out (swipe for the 💜very purple💜 before) 🏔️ if you're new to my content, this is what happens on the other side of my home office... an entire area dedicated to our climbing, skiing, hiking, camping, backpacking, snowmobiling, etc gear and it brings me so much joy.
Living out here means easy access to so many adventures and having a well-organized, literal shrine to our favorite activities makes it even easier. We dreamed of having a dedicated space like this for SO long! 🥹

It’s been a weird couple of years and it feels l It’s been a weird couple of years and it feels like I’ve lost a big part of myself. I feel like a robot sometimes, going through the motions and just desperately trying to stay productive. We moved to this rural town a month before my busiest time of year for work, immediately adopted a other dog and we’re generally overwhelmed by everything we needed to do to maintain our property. And then even more life happened…
And because of that, my home has never felt fully settled. I’m one of those people where my environment heavily influences my mental state, so to be living in this much chaos for so long has not been healthy. My best friend and I recently started what we dubbed Operation Optimize where we are literally examining every element of our homes, our lives, and our mental states… and optimizing them. That doesn’t mean going out and buying all new storage bins, but it does mean taking the time to sort and purge and think and label and mentally process how I can transform my home into a place that fully serves me and improves my mental health.
Our entryway is still very much a work in progress but it’s getting there and the updates make me very, very excited ❤️ most of the organization and storage items I’m using are linked in my Amazon shop, btw. Link on my profile 😘

@erinaustenabbott thank you for making my dreams c @erinaustenabbott thank you for making my dreams come true! 📖 I can’t wait to see our colorful home in print 🥹 but first, a lot of projects need to get wrapped up… starting with this awkward corner. My plan is to make it a charming breakfast nook because it gets amazing light in the spring and summer. It will also function as a puzzle nook AND will give a home to the marble tulip table from my first home that I couldn’t bear to part with ❤️ let me know what you think! #decorreels #colorfulhomedecor #puzzlelover #breakfastnook #cabininthewoods #tuliptable
