WOWZA lots of new faces around here thanks to my l WOWZA lots of new faces around here thanks to my latest video about Answers from the Man Who Built My House... so it’s time for a quick little re-introduction to who I am and what you can expect 🔥
My name is Joanna and I’ve been blogging on jojotastic.com for about 12 years. Sharing my home and my life online is my full-time job + I offer social media consulting and strategy. My content has shifted over the years, but now it’s focused on the wild adventure my husband Sean and I are living in the foothills of the North Cascades 🌲 We lived in Seattle until September 2020 when I got antsy and started seriously looking at cabins which had been a dream of ours for years. When we moved into our quirky home, it hadn’t gotten much attention for about 5+ years, so we immediately got to work!
We’ve updated nearly every room and documented it along the way — definitely give my IG a scroll and visit the blog to catch up! Our property is about 2 acres and currently home to 3 dogs, 1 cat, 16 chickens, and 2 geese.
I’m into being outside as much as possible, exercising my potty mouth, gardening (Zone 8b whats uppp), big sandwiches, and living life on my own terms.
BTW if you want to know where something in our home came from or the specifics of the paint colors, shop my house via the link on my profile!
Leave a comment asking anything else you want to know about me ❤️
Let's talk about shopping for vintage decor, speci Let's talk about shopping for vintage decor, specifically finding something specific that you have in mind 🤔 As much as I love the thrill of the hunt and the unexpected discoveries that going antiquing or thrifting in-person provides, sometimes you're on a tight timeline or simply know exactly what you're looking for and don't want to take forever finding it. That's when I start perusing @chairishco which has rapidly become one of my fave online sources (and especially awesome since we live so far away from town)
Our guest room is a great example: I had planned to do a massive gallery wall, but I also had a deadline for when I needed to photograph it... so I spent an evening on the Chairish app perusing the artwork, making offers and drinking wine. Not bad, right?? Along the way, I picked up some helpful tips and tricks for shopping on the site — which is conveniently on the blog for you to read today! Visit jojotastic.com to learn how I find exactly what I'm looking for, save money, and more
(btw this is totally unsponsored, I just love the site)

My #1 homeownership must-have? A sense of humor 🙃 cuz our cabin is NEVER tidy these days thanks to my new long haired roommates, PNW winter, and the constant array of renovation projects sitting half-finished. But in those 10 glorious minutes of tidiness? That’s where I thrive... and take video because otherwise it’s like it never happened 🤣 #decorreels #cabindecor #pnwcabin #colorfulhomedecor

The long-awaited update to my viral series Questio The long-awaited update to my viral series Questions I Have from the Man Who Built My House! 🎉 I’ve gotten SO many messages asking for this series to come back, but with actual answers this time... and it’s finally starting back up again.
TBH last fall, after the original builders/owners/family came over for dinner to chat, I had a really, really hard time. My beloved Noodle died very unexpectedly, then it was my busy season with work, then I got incredibly sick and had to take an entire month off. So I appreciate your patience and hope that you love this new update! Stay tuned for more ❤️ #answersihave #cabinlife #homeownership #buyahouse #pnwcabin
We moved our washer and dryer out of the laundry c We moved our washer and dryer out of the laundry closet and into our guest bathroom… meet our new laundry nook! 🧺 This update is one of the best things we’ve done to improve life (and morale) in our cabin! When we moved in, there was a massive vanity in that nook and it was really awkward.
When I opened up the wall, I discovered that there was already plumbing set up! We also knew that the dryer duct that vents outside already went past this spot as well. So then it was a matter of making sure the machines would fit (and fit through the bathroom door 😅), adjusting the plumbing and duct, and updating the wiring to handle the new load.
From the perspective of functionality, this move has been AMAZING. Moving our laundry appliances to the bathroom gives me plenty of space to sort laundry. Typically, I sort on top of the machines. But if we have a lot of dirty laundry, I use the bathtub as extra sorting space! Eventually we plan on adding a countertop, but for now it’s so nice to have this surface. What do you think??

As badly as I wanted a mudroom when we were search As badly as I wanted a mudroom when we were searching for a cabin, we ended up buying a house without one! And I complain about it almost every single day 🤣 swipe for the before!
The entry area is constantly a mess because of our weather, bringing in firewood, and the dogs. It’s also a landing zone for a ton of crap all the time. Sometimes it’s shipping and receiving. Other times, it’s where we get undressed from shoveling snow or an especially messy day of gardening 🌧
This year, I want to *finally* get the entryway properly organized and wayyy more functional. I’m thinking one more row of peg rail for hats and small items, more utilitarian rugs, and a large storage bench.
