Remember when we used to do throwback Thursday? Well… today I’m feeling nostalgic about the year-long kitchen renovation we tackled in our first home, a 640 sqft bungalow in Seattle, because the bottom fell out of a kitchen drawer here in the cabin while I was making coffee this morning 😵‍💫 this was the hardest room to leave when we sold and if I could I would packed it up in a box and brought it here with me. My mind has been turning over a cabin kitchen renovation for the past few months, so we’ll see when it actually happens and if it takes less than a year this time 🤞

Any time Seattle is first in something, I immediately get excited 🤓 #ad When @sundaysfurniture opened their first permanent US showroom here I just about lost my mind. Not only are the pieces absolutely gorgeous while still feeling timeless and fresh, but they are all about using quality materials — which is literally the direct path to my interior design heart! For example, most of the upholstery is made with performance fabric meaning that you can live your life AND have a white couch.

Something beautiful? To me that’s the new life we’ve built in our colorful cabin in the North Cascades ❤️🌲 we moved here in September 2020 because I was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder that was a literal wake up call — I wanted to slow down, enjoy life more, and live in a place where we spent most of our weekends (or as close to it as possible). The word ‘grateful’ doesn’t even come close to how I feel to be here.

Our primary bedroom renovation is the ✨definition✨ of slow design. I didn’t want to rush into any changes just to call it finished and then to change my mind all over again (which of course I’ve already done ANYWAYS).
Instead, we quickly removed all signs of the previous owners and sanitized it... then took our sweet time installing beadboard, painting, adding insulation to the floor, installing new flooring... and now I’m taking my sweet time decorating the space until it feels exactly how I want! The newest iteration is a bit less colorful because I wanted a vibe that is more soothing, calming, and cozy. So stay tuned to see that update! #decorreels #bedroommakeover #bedroomdecor

Proof of life 💃 you know that thing where you’re too busy living your life in the forest to post to social media but the algorithm gods punish you if you don’t and then people forget who you are and then companies don’t want to partner on content and you’re just trying to turn your front yard into a meadow? I’ll be the first to admit that I played it a bit safe in our previous home with my palette of white, black and shades of blue. Moving to our cabin somehow unlocked something in my brain, something that craved color and pattern and texture. Moving here was part of listening to my inner child and leaning further into a life that brings me overwhelming joy — especially after my diagnosis of a rare genetic disorder. And with alllll of that came wanting to live in a space where ever nook instantly boosts my serotonin.
