The Darkness™️ has arrived in the Pacific Northwest, which means one thing for me: it’s the start of puzzle season! 🧩 from now on, you’ll find me in the puzzle nook working on my latest 1000+ piece puzzle. If you’re new to this hobby of mine and want to try some, here are my fave brands:🧩 @pieceworkpuzzles make the most beautiful and high-quality puzzles I’ve ever experienced. Their paperstock has a more matte finish to it, so you don’t deal with as much glare if you have an overhead like. Also the subjects are gorgeous and the names are cheeky. HIGHLY recommend!
🧩 @galisonpuzzles, @mudpuppykids and @brassmonkeygoods make really cute puzzles that have great illustrations and subject matter. I especially recommend them if you’re doing puzzles with kids.
🧩 there are also loads of puzzles I’ve done or want to do linked in my @amazonhome shop... but also just go thrifting and buy them for $5! Just make sure you’re ok with them potentially missing a few pieces 🙃
🧩 and definitely set up a puzzle trade with friends!

But why geese?? 🪿 Probably one of my most asked questions, so it’s time to answer it! Leave a comment and let me know what you think.
🪿 Geese are like guard dogs... but funnier. They literally live at the entrance to our property and sound the alarm by honking if anything is amiss. That then gets the dogs barking and tells me if something is going on that I need to know about! Lots of false alarms, but I like to be aware.
🪿 Our goosers also make some wonderful garden fertilizer which is alllll part of my harebrained permaculture plans. One of their jobs is to fertilize the fruit trees (once I finally plant them) which I learned about thanks to @beccagrowsstuff
🪿 and lastly, our geese are exactly the type of chaos and hilarity I LOVE. They are more sentient than the chickens and interact SO much more, especially when they are sassing me. Every time I commune with the geese, it’s full-on belly laughs.

Cozy cabin photodump 🌲 life’s been pretty great out here, I’m not gonna lie. Highly recommend selling your house in the city, buying a cabin, renovating said cabin amid storms, power outages, and bears/bats/mice, and completely changing your entire lifestyle 👍

Day to night cabin… which do you prefer?? Andy likes to complain about our cabin being too dark, but thats definitely the vibe out here since there aren’t streetlights💡 I find the coziness of table lamps and candles to create better ambiance than any sort of overhead lighting (#neverturnonthebiglight), so I’ve really focused on placing a few around the cabin in key spots like the puzzle nook, built ins and around the sofa. Our home practically sings in the daylight thanks to our epic skylights, but there’s something about the moody evening vibes that I can’t get enough of sometimes 🥹 #cozyhome #cabinvibes #daytonight #decorreels
